Summer Nationals General Information
We are rapidly approaching Summer Nationals in Miami! Attached is the Confirmed
Entry List, Athlete Packet, Check-In Times, Meeting Schedule, Officials
Information, Layout, and Shuttle Schedule. If you notice an error for your entry
please email me or christine.simmons@... by Thursday, June 21. There
is a list of restaurants and attractions listed below.
By the way, did you know that there is more than one Convention Center in Miami?
The US Fencing Summer Nationals will be at the Miami Beach Convention Center
(not the downtown convention center).
There will be a limited shuttle provided by the Miami Sports Commission. It will
run from select hotels to the Miami Beach Convention Center during competition
days. The Marriott, the Radisson and the Doubletree on Biscayne Blvd are all
located next to each other, so if you are staying at one of these three hotels
you will catch the Shuttle at the Doubletree entrance. Please keep in mind the
shuttle has limited service, and if you miss a pick-up time please take a taxi
in order to make your one hour check-in window. It takes approximately 20
minutes to get to the Miami Beach Convention Center and 40 minutes roundtrip.
There is no shuttle service on Thursday, June 28 so if you want to get your
equipment checked by the Armory that afternoon, you will have to arrange for
your own transportation.
If you need personal transportation from the airport or to the venue here are
some important phone numbers:
Miami-Dade Yellow Cab (305) 444-4444
Coastal Limousine (305) 604-5940
Super Shuttle (305) 871-2000
The US Fencing Hall of Fame reception will take place at the Marriott Biscayne
Bay Hotel on June 30th at 8:00pm. If you have any questions or you would like to
purchase tickets to this year's Hall of Fame reception please email me.
Concessions at the Miami Beach Convention Center will have a limited breakfast
Menu - and we mean LIMITED! We suggest that you eat a meal before arriving or
get some grab and go food to take with you!

Whell you still have ... about 2 months to get that C07. I think the very last
thing on the season's schedule is the Keystone State Games which is the weekend
of July 28/29th. You and Ed Kane can fight it out to see who drops from C03 ->
D07.
And FYI : I have my D07 since May 19th :

Remember the battle for the C07 is still on, even though the season is winding
down....

Results from the MUFG hosted Friday Night Foil on 02/23 are posted!
Check out full results (pools to DE rounds) on askFRED!

Congrats to all the Millersville / Lancaster fencers!!
3 Ream, Kyle FCL (Earned E2007!)
8 Martin, Roger E FCL
9 Potts, Matthew MUFG
12 Emig, Hannah MUFG
18 Brenner, Robert FCL
Thanks also to everyone who came out to support the teams, and helped
set-up & clean-up the gym.
Special thanks to Emily and Zach, and hopefully we'll see you two on the
strip in March!!
I have recently gotten a Favero scoring machine and reels set, and I will be
bringing them to practices on Tuesday.
Instead of dry bouting we can now fence electrics! (Finally!!)
If you plan on using the machine, please bring along your electric kit, and full
uniform. The club has only a small number of foils/cords/lame's.
I hope that this will provide a good experience for our fencers heading to
competitions as well as making practices overall more enjoyable.
Cheers
-Chris M.
