Subject: FENCEATHON 9 TO BE HELD OCT. 17-18 AT LIBERTY CHRISTIAN
SCHOOL IN OWINGS MILLS, MD

September 3, 2008

Dear Fencing Enthusiast:

Cat got your tongue? Better your tongue than your swords! You'll want
those as it's time once again for the Chesapeake Fencing Club's annual

FENCE-A-THON!

You may need a cat's 9 lives to fence "all night long" at FENCEATHON 9
to be held the evening of Friday, Oct. 17th through Saturday morning,
Oct. 18th for all three weapons at Liberty Christian School in Owings
Mills!

A fun-and-fundraising event to benefit CFC and The Sisters Academy of
Baltimore, FENCE-A-THON 9 will begin with registration at 7-8 p.m.
Friday, fencing starting by 9 p.m., and conclude Saturday at 9 a.m.

Liberty Christian School is located at 11303 Liberty Road in Owings
Mills. Registration is $25 (pre-register by October 10th and receive a
free commemorative CFC 9th Fenceathon T-shirt with logo created by
Crowolf Design) and is open to all fencers.

Realize we're not talking a tournament here. This is a fencing
marathon! Like a benefit walk, we need you to get your family,
friends, co-workers, enemies, people on prison work-release, whomever,
to sponsor you -- $1 a bout, $2, $5, whatever people are willing to
give. The more bouts you fence, the more money you raise! (Lump sum
donations also accepted. Please make checks payable to the Chesapeake
Fencing Club).

Trophies will be awarded for most bouts fenced and most bouts ref'd.
This year, trophies will also be presented to winners in the Y-10 and
Y-12 categories for most bouts fenced. All bouts must be fenced
according to USFA rules, just like a tournament.

If you'd rather not fence, but would like to referee, same rules
apply. People will sponsor you for the number of bouts you ref. Of
course, whether you're fencing or reffing, the more sponsors you find,
the more bucks come in to CFC and The Sisters Academy of Baltimore!
(The Sisters Academy of Baltimore is a Catholic community-centered
middle school located in southwest Baltimore City for girls in grades
5-8).

Highlights include food, refreshments, music, videos, and door prizes
throughout the evening. In addition, we've invited our friends from
the Society for Creative Anachronism and the Mid-Atlantic Society for
Historical Swordsmanship to put on displays of their special brand of
swordplay.

Parents, please be advised that since this is a benefit fencing event,
not a sleepover, we don't want to overtax the kids. You will need to
complete a medical waiver form in order to participate. This may be
obtained by contacting Dan Collins at 410-332-9714 or via email at
prguydc@.... Forms will be available day of the event, but MUST be
signed and turned in to the Registration Desk by close of registration
Friday, Oct. 17th at 8 p.m.

Our gallant FENCE-A-THON 9 event organizers are scouring Baltimore's
business community for donated items that will serve as DOOR PRIZES
throughout the evening. If you also know a business, vendor, etc.,
that might donate a prize, let Dan Collins know at 410-332-9714 or
email him at prguydc@.... Tell your fencing friends about our event!
You want to bring some sodas, ice, sandwiches, pizza, heck, we'll take
it, we're not shy!

Thought I would post this here as well

If you have questions about this event, please call Ray Gordon at
410-532-7445 or Dan Collins at 410-332-9714.

Come be a part of history; others may try and imitate us, but we were
the FIRST! We look forward to seeing you at the

FENCE-A-THON 9!

Sincerely,

Dan Collins
Ray Gordon
