I participated in the Mixed E Foil event outside of Baltimore on
Sunday, December 4th. A total of 50 fencers. After the pools were
completed, the bottom 10 fencers were eliminated, and the remaining
bottom 16 had DEs to determine which 8 would join the top 24, who had
a bye in the first round, for the DEs for the top 32. I went 5-1 in my
pool, with my loss at 4-5 to a lefty. After the pools, I was seeded
5th. In my first DE, I came back from behind to win 15-14. I lost
the next DE 3-15, to Snyder, an E-rated fencer from TWC. Some of the
moves that seemed to be working for me were 1) cross-over/lunge, and
2) taking the blade. I think I finished 9th.
