CAT for Horses   Message List

CAT stands for Constructional Aggression Treatment. It was originally
developed by Kellie Snyder for her Master's Thesis under the guidance
of Dr Jesus Rosales

After attending a seminar with Dr Rosales and Kellie, I discovered that this
approach may help many horses with deep seated long term fears that have not
been adequately addressed by other methods.

Later, I was able to attend a presentation by another of Dr Rosales students
using the same approach to create feral cats into friendly cats in a very
short time.

The keyword is constructional. CAT is not a desensitizing process. Rather,
it is an operant process where the animal is in total control. The horse or
dog learns a better way to operate it's environment.

Since several people have begun to experiment with this process in horses, I
am opening this list to this discussion for the benefit of horses
everywhere.

There is a list dedicated to CAT. It is not an open list however requiring
the purchase of the DVD seminar. I am a member of that list and will post
from time to time, information that will be relevant to horses and fear.
