Generally we have more than 1 parent/10 rowers due to parents wanting to see the regatta. We designate one male and one female parent as the official hotel chaperones.  We have a curfew and travel rules.  We do not have Jr High or Middle School rowers.

Hi all,
 
It has been quite a while since I've seen a posting from this group, so I hope this email reaches someone. I am a former parent coordinator for a Jr. rowing program, and am still involved on a less regular basis.
 
I have a question regarding some information I heard about youth regatta chaperones. Is there a designated ratio of chaperone to rower required by law? and, just how liable are the chaperones for the kids? Every rower's parents have signed a release of liability waiver to the club, and a permission to travel form.
 
Has this information been updated or changed lately?

Here at the NRRA we have 2 parent chaperones on each bus. At hotels we have 2-4 depending on the size of the trip. I'm not aware of any laws on the books. As...
