John,
I looked into this a couple of years ago, but was informed by some
people in the know that, as a club sport unaffiliated with a high
school, we would be playing with legal dynamite by trying to enforce an
academic standards policy. That may be more the case here in sue-happy
California than where you are, but I'd definitely look into it.
