I am the president of the Oakton High School crew booster club. We are presently searching for a new head coach. We thought that we had a new coach lined up when he was told that he would not be receiving his promised release from the Coast Guard. So we find ourselves approaching next season with no coach, hence, this letter to you from out of the blue. I know that you must realize how difficult it is to find crew coaches and will appreciate my dilemma. As the coaching community is small, I am hoping that you might not mind passing on my e-mail or phone number to any prospects for a head coach’s job that you might encounter. The usual search mechanisms are not yielding any results, so I am turning to the unusual (and somewhat desperate).
We are a relatively new program (3 seasons) and really could provide an interesting and rewarding opportunity for a head coach. We have winter conditioning beginning in November and practice 4times/week from 4 – 6pm on the Occoquan once the spring season begins. We are a club sport with approximately 60 rowers and have an enthusiastic and supportive athletic director and booster organization.
