I believe that you will find the USRowing coverage excellent.  Because
there were four deaths last year (two rowers and two little children who
fell in the water off a rowing dock) and multiple "crashes" of boats and
trailers carrying boats, the rates have gone up a fair amount.  But the
coverage is excellent for liability.  Insurance for the equipment is not
directly available from USRA but Leonard Insurance does a pretty good
job

Hello:

am a parent helping to start up a junior rowing club in Boulder CO -
Colorado Junior Crew.  The club has been around for 3-4 years, but was
always under the auspices of the University of Colorado, as a summer
camp.

We've outgrown that arrangement and are now planning to be an
independent
club, organized as a 501(c)(3).  I've been asked to look into what kind
of
insurance we'll need.

We have an organizational membership with USRowing and I know that
insurance
coverage comes with that membership.  Can anyone tell me from their
experience with similar junior crew teams, is that coverage generally
sufficient or do we need to be looking into additional coverage of any
kind
outside what USRowing provides?

Thanks for your help,
Jerry Lumpe

Thanks Adrienne. I'm pretty sure all our kids are members - rolling the membership cost into the club dues is a good idea. Currently we don't own any of our...
