----- Original Message -----From: ShaneSent: Saturday, June 17, 2006 5:14 PMSubject: [youthpoa] Team Competition ProposalThe Youth Board has been working on a way to bring the Team
Competition to the International, since the World show that
traditionally holds this event doesn't exist anymore. Take a look at
this proposal- it will probably be on the agenda for the
International Youth Meeting and hopefully be ready to present to the
Board of Directors at the Sale in October.
Comments and suggestions and opinions are very welcome.
----------
Proposal for Team competition at the International
Purpose: To have youth teams from various states compete for the
number one team in the nation position
Process: Each state youth club will enter a team from each state
(the possibility of more than one team from a state can be addressed
later). The Team will consist of 2 youth from each age division (13-
18, 9-12, and 8 and under). They may be either boys or girls.
They will compete in their respective divisions at the international
as usual, and their class placing (the event they are nominated for)
will be added up to give a team total. The team with the highest
total will win the competition. The teams could be placed to 3 or 4
placing.
The divisions will consist of Showmanship, Western Equitation,
English Equitation, and Huntseat Equitation over Fences, Reining, and
one of any Game Class (to be determined by the state club).
Each member of the team will be chosen for a specific division, and
may have an alternate in case of illness or other issues that may
cause the team member not to show.
Each team member is not allowed to participate in their division
consecutive years.
(For example if Suzie rode in the western equitation division in
2005, then she would be unable to be nominated for the western
equitation division for 2006. However she could participate in any
of the other 5 divisions in 2006.
The Fee for the team entry would be paid for by the state. Awards
will be purchased with the entry fee money.
The Youth Team members must be members in the respective states they
are competing with.
The benefits are many:
1) Gives the youth another competitive outlet
2) Does not add any classes to the already long International
Schedule
3) Promotes a team atmosphere
4) Allows more chances for more kids to win awards
5) Allows the opportunity for more sponsorship monies
