There's nothing wrong with not partaking in, or repeating the pledge or star spangled banner.  Nothing wrong with it at all.  And I don't know too many people who would say there is something wrong.  There's no law saying you have to recognize any of it.  But standing in front of a camera, as a celebrity and calling it "shit" is GOING to get a reaction, and most likely a negative reaction.  Which it should.  Yes, there is freedom of speech, and there is also freedom to react to that speech.  It's just mindless is all..  And, again I say; Cuban is doing the LEAST with the situation at hand.  Not comforting..

Josh Howard = a young guy who has had too much fame way too early in his life. He's been spoiled by the Mavs. What he said was stupid, lacking any common sense. I say this not because I think he was wrong to say it, but because he shouldn't have said it publicly. I'm probably going to get bashed for typing this, but I don't stand up for it either. Or sing it. Or hold my hand to my heart.
And people need to get a freaking backbone and stop getting so offended at such trivial things.

Hey guys.

I used to think Howard was a shy, stand-up guy. That was until this
past year. Seemed like he quit playing when all the deals went down.
Then he publicly stated, like a bonehead I might add, that he does
illegal pot in the off-season like a bunch of other NBA players.

Now a cellphone video of him is splattered all over youtube and the
news where he appears to disrespect the National Anthem (and Obama?).

Here's my question... Anyone who knows Josh, was this for real? I
have this sneaky suspicion that he was actually not putting down the
National Anthem but was putting down Obama. My theory goes something
like this... Buying into the hype about Obama's lack of patriotism
and not wearing a flag pin and all, he is actually making fun of Obama
on the cellphone video. Right? Wrong? If I'm right, it might be
good if someone (perhaps him, except that they probably don't want him
to put his foot in his mouth again) were to publicly announce that
Josh was joking and really making fun of Obama and not disrespecting
the National Anthem.

So, anyone who knows Josh, just remind him that whether pot is any
worse for you than alcohol, alcohol is legal and pot is still illegal
(so at the least, don't mention doing it...of course, the best would
be to just not do it). Also, tell him to try and get over the deal
last year (if that's the problem) and play like he used to or ask for
a trade. I want to see him stay and play, but if he ain't gonna play,
I'd rather him go somewhere else.

Oh well, just my two cents. I can't wait for the season to start. I
hate baseball and can't seem to get into football this year. Bring on
the basketball, baby!

Later,
Bryan
