Aikido Yoshinkai NSW is pleased to announce that Takafumi Takeno
Sensei (9th Dan) will be conducting a 3-day seminar this year over
the long Easter Weekend, April 11-13. One of Yoshinkan Aikido
founder Gozo Shioda Sokefs main uchideshi (special student), Takeno
Sensei is Kancho (Dojo Head) and founder of Aikido Yoshinkan
Yamanashi. He was also Chief Instructor at Honbu Dojo for over 10
years prior to that. His passion for aikido can be seen in his
dynamic technique and in his enthusiastic and inspirational teaching.
Accompanying Takeno Sensei is Chiemi Nakagawa Sensei (5th Dan), his
main student and assistant instructor, and also winner of the Annual
All Japan Aikido Yoshinkai Embu Taikai on several occasions. As a
female aikidoka, Nakagawa Sensei is an inspiration to both women and
men for her sharp and powerful execution of technique and amazing
ability as uke.
We are receiving interest from near and afar for next yearfs seminar
with Takeno Sensei. We have interest now from the Ukraine, UK,
Indonesia and Malaysia as well as from across Australia including
other aikido groups in NSW. It will be the biggest event Aikido
Yoshinkai NSW has organized and will be a significant event for
martial arts in Australia.
The seminar will be held in central Sydney close to (within walking
distance) of downtown tourist attractions. There is lots of
accomodation from backpacker budget thru to business and five star
