Inoue Kancho Retires   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #8152 of 8914 |
Dear IYAF Community,

It is my sad duty to inform everyone that as of April 1st this year
Inoue Kancho has retired from his full-time dojo duties.

Inoue Kancho has dedicated his whole career to the study and
advancement of Yoshinkan Aikido, and has impacted the lives of people
all over the world. Currently in his early 70fs Inoue Sensei was
born in Hokkaido (northern island of Japan) in 1935. While studying
to be an international diplomat at Chuo University, Inoue Kancho
enrolled in Yoshinkan Aikido in 1955. His anticipated career path
took a major detour and fifteen year later he was dispatched to the
Tokyo Metropolitan police at the request of Shioda Soke. There he
taught the womenfs police and the riot squad, and developed the
movements we know as kihon dosa. In 1996 Inoue Kancho returned to the
Honbu dojo shortly after the passing of Shioda Soke.

The date of Inoue Kanchofs retirement party has not yet been
settled, though I hope to have more information soon.

Future Yoshinkan leadership issues will be finalized at the beginning
of July.

Anyone wishing to contact Inoue Kancho can still direct their
correspondence to the honbu dojo as he is often around.

Best Regards,

Matthew Murray
