Yeah, Susan is right.  It's $10 to park no matter what you are doing.  About
half way between the picnic area and the boat launch is the old mill house and
there is a small parking area where Deer Creek meets the river - both are free.

Just an FYI.

If memory serves that parking lot is more expensive.  The price of boat
ownership I think.

It has been a few years since I tried parking there.  Things may have changed.

Weather depending, I'm going to continue exploring susquehanna state
park. I don't have a map here, but plan is to meet at the
southern-most end of the ridge trail. I'll get details when I get
home this evening. We'll ride the ridge trail to the top, then back
around the blue and orange blazes, and possibly the green depending on
how much climbing we feel like doing. Then the ivy branch and land of
promise to wrap things up.

Plan to meet at 5:30.

I may be open to a ride at RR or Redman on Friday morning too,
depending on tentative plans for the afternoon.

Bob Himes: Get in touch with me (I don't have your email handy). I
have a bike for you if you are still interested.

I got my first age group triathlon win at the Xterra triathlon on Sunday, the
Trimax event at R.B.Winter State Park. If you've ever ridden there, you know the
Old Tram Trail is a rock hunters feast!! The dirt road and singletrack climbs
after that are where I was able to make up time on the bike.

I started mtb racing after riding for a couple years with YAMBA (back before
Skip had kids!) then got the multisport itch four years ago. I strongly
encourage anyone considering Xterra to give it a try!

At 47, I'm still getting faster!!

I have two frames gathering dust in the garage that are now for sale. If sold
on board, 10% of the sale will be donated to the YAMBA operating fund.

First is a 2003 Trek 4300 hardtail frame size L. Headset still on the bike,
cranks may be as well. I think it may need a derailleur hanger. It's a good
beginner bike. $100

Second is a 2006 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR size M. Headset still on, rear
shock still on w/ only 50-100 from last service. $600

I also have various rim brake wheels that I will part w/ for cheap.

contact me at myfakeemail3 at mac.com if interested and for pics.

Thanks,
Kevin

Not George Street, Water street. Where trail 4 crosses at the yellow gate.

For anyone that is unsure:

In Jacobus, turn onto Water Street at the Innerst Toro Dealer and take that to
the bottom of the hill to the gated parking area.

Yes, the start time is 6:30. We are trying something new here for a couple of
weeks with changing the start time. It seems to be getting some good feedback
b/c it opens the door for more people to come. And tonights meeting spot has
changed to the bottom of water street at the Williams boat launch.

I apologize for the spam, but this may be of interest.  On yesterday's ride at
the Lakes the topic of joblessness and job satisfaction came up.  Unless you
want to work helpdesk or operations or be a teller or member service rep, my
company has nothing.  However, my roommate's company in Columbia, MD is hiring
for more technical jobs.  Some of the listings are for postings in areas that
might be cool, like Hawaii.

I'm moving to the York area.  I've put in a couple of apartment applications and
will know soon where I'm moving.  I'm keeping my job in Laurel, MD and therefore
signing up for a long commute for at least a year.   I'd be willing to carpool
most days and, since Columbia is on the way to Laurel, the logistics of that
commute might be workable.

The listings can be found here
http://www.texeltek.com/index.php/careers/job-postings.

If you want to submit a resume that will get seen, please send it to
Troyfish@... and let me know so he knows to expect it.  His name is Troy
Herring.

His company does work for the federal government and clearances are
welcome/encouraged/required.

Those 2 trails were on private property & not within the park's
boundaries, so from what I understand - the park didn't close them. If
they are gone, it was the land owner who closed them. There was a thread
or two on the MORE board about this; although, MORE works closely with
the park management to build & maintain the legal trails, so renegade
trails like those aren't typically a part of the conversation.

Yes - they were (or are) cool trails. I can't confirm that they are
totally gone because I haven't ridden or looked for them for a couple of
months. Still the best trail system in the Baltimore area IMO, outside
of Gambrill.

Sorry for the hijack but was wondering if anybody knew the status of Not
your Mommas Trail and Renegade at Patapsco? Last time I was down there
in April it seemed like the park, or somebody had shut them down. Being
how they were the two best trails in the park (that I know of) I haven't
really been rushing to go back down there. Anybody knows what's up?
Thanks,

I agree!   Post up on the MORE website and you will get some good responses.
I choose to park on Landing Road as well by the housing development and just
start riding up towards Ridge Trail.  There are a lot of great sections of
trail on that side.  You could also check out www.sixhoursofpatapsco.com and
look at the map of the race they do there.  I think that one starts over at hte
Pavilions and the first climb is up Ridge Trail.  Brutal climb as a beginning
section, but well worth it once you get up to the top.  Patapsco has a ton of
singletrack trail.  It's very fast and swoopy and I don't think you will be
disappointed.

Avalon area - You can go in from Landing Rd or we usually park in the
park n ride lot off rolling road near 95 (hide your valuables due to
break ins) or the back lot of CCBC (safer) & hit the trails on the
Baltimore County side first - which is the more technical side. Then we
cross over & ride Howard County. There is a map available from the park
- if you pay to enter, the maps may be available at the entrance;
although I'm not sure, I ordered mine on-line. The map is a good
overview, but a local guide would be better.

McKeldin is ok, but I'd head straight to Avalon area. Have fun - great
trails & on a Saturday there should be plenty of riders around to point
you in the right direction. I doubt you'll waste your time on fire
roads, there is plenty of good single track throughout the park.

Most locals down there enter the park on Landing Road (Washington Blvd,
right on MMontgomery, right on Landing). Park across from a housing
development. Enter the trails straight in or take the trails that bear
right, either way tons of nice single track. There is more technical
stuff on the other side of the swinging bridge down the paved path and
bit and then cut up under a bridge. You'll have a great time. Good Luck!

Sorry for the hijack but was wondering if anybody knew the status of Not your
Mommas Trail and Renegade at Patapsco? Last time I was down there in April it
seemed like the park, or somebody had shut them down. Being how they were the
two best trails in the park (that I know of) I haven't really been rushing to go
back down there. Anybody knows what's up?
Thanks,
Will

Post up in the ride section on MORE's forum - more-mtb.org, see if you
can get a local to lead or hook up w/a MORE ride.

Oh, cool, so I was riding the right place down there :-) (thanks to
kim buhrman showing me around last year!).

I have the big map. I remember the race at the McKeldin area used to
be fun, and there's a map specific to that area too, but I don't own
it.

Kind of cool, but the green light is kind of hard to notice.  Plus drivers
would be so distracted by it that they might run into the cyclist on the road.
Just sayin'!!  It would be a better concept if it just projected the "Bike
Lane" onto the road behind the cyclist.
