RE: YAMBA loch raven maps

Greg - email me & I'll give you the local insight on LR. I live 5 mins
from one of the remote trail heads & ride there several times a week -
have been since the late 80s. I'll be in the seminary lot tonight, most
likely around 5 if you want a quick tour. We ride a 14 m loop, a 20+
around the 'lake' and damns loop, and a 40+ Tour de LR loop - due for
one of those very soon.

For the record - the only legal riding in loch raven is on the fire
roads, & even some of those are off limits - hence the lack of legal or
published maps.

i'm at rmcclain@...

Yeah, I know. I'll shut up about the damned loch raven stuff :-)

I just found these:

Still not great, and not labeled, but it's all I could find on the
trail systems in the area. You'd think *someone* would do a nice map
by now. Oh well.

While you likely won't get lost, so long as you know the general
direction you are traveling and which road is which when you pop out
on them, it is easy to get twisted around with all the criss-crossing
on the seminary loop. You're always within a few hundred feet of a
fireroad that will get you back to the car, though.

If I ever figure out some sort of flow to the place, I'll upload a gps
track to gpsvisualizer with labels, slope, and elevation profiles. I
know there are people on this list that know the best loop, so if
you'd like to take me out to do this, that would be appreciated!

Great place to get some big-gear miles in if you don't own a road
bike! After getting 'lost' a few times last night, my 20 miler turned
into about 25.
