Peter,
Congradulations on the new build. Nothing wrong with George Jetson or his
Hot little daughter, Judy. Or at least that's what I thought when I was a
kid. But, then again there was Marilyn Munster, Ginger & Mary Anne, Elly
Mae, and all the girls on Petticoat Junction. (Sorry about the child hood
flashback . . . oh yes, bicycles, sorry.) Still liked the Jetsons though
and I'm sure the bike looks way cool. Just out of curiosity, is this your
first carbon frame? My first carbon bike was a 5500 and for the first 2 or 3
months, I swore that the tires were flat. It was so darn smooth, since the
carbon absorbs an amazing amount of the road shock. I couldn't feel the
wheels, as I could on my previous Cannondale. Since then, I can't ride
anything but carbon. Currently the stable holds a 5900, a Fuel 100 and, of
course my prized blue Y-Foil. Also, you mentioned a bouncy ride. I don't
see it that way, but I guess I'm just use to it. The seat beam does flex for
a very comfortable ride, especially on century and century+ rides. If you're
a rather large guy, I could see it bouncing more then what I'm use to, but I
weigh in at 180 lbs and I consider that a heavy rider for 5'8". Yes, it is
a great decender and very stable. I love getting on a steep decent that
winds back and forth all the way down to the bottom. Only problem with that
is after every sweet decline there always seems to be, a not so sweet
incline. Oh well, the sacrifices we must make for the sports we enjoy so.
Enjoy your new ride, and as with all new builds, it takes some getting use
to. Take care and ride hard.
Sincerely,
Ron
