YEOVIL Town striker Dean Bowditch returned to playing action with a bang
this afternoon when he scored the all-important goal within five minutes
of him being introduced to the fray.

Bowditch, who has been forced to sit on the sidelines since picking up a
serious shoulder injury in the first game of the season back in August,
came on as a 71st minute substitute for Andy Welsh in this Coca-Cola
League One clash with Southend United at Huish Park.

His introduction came at a time when the game looked to be heading
towards a frustrating 0-0 draw for the Glovers.

Yeovil had been on top from the first whistle and were given an added
bonus when Southend's Sean Morrison was sent-off on the half-hour mark
for a professional foul.

Jon Obika, Scott Murray, Andy Welsh and Ryan Mason all had chances to
have broken the deadlock, but Southend remained resolute with
goalkeeper, ex-Glovers man Steve Mildenhall, in good form.

The second-half was more even with Southend, having regrouped during the
interval, posing more of a threat, despite their one-man disadvantage.

But then on the 76th minute Bowditch struck from close range inside the
box following a free-kick.

It was a great comeback for Bowditch who has now scored two goals in two
games for the Glovers.

Yeovil fans will be hoping there are plenty more to come in the Bowditch
locker.

The victory has moved Yeovil back up to 12th spot in the League One.

Dean Bowditch's late winner sealed the points as Yeovil battled to a 1-0
victory over 10-man Southend.

Francis Laurent spurned an excellent chance to give the home side the
lead when he put Simon Francis's cross wide from six yards.

Southend keeper Steve Mildenhall saved sharply from Scott Murray and
Jonathan Obika just before the half-hour mark, when the visitors' task
was made harder as debutant Sean Morrison was dismissed for a
professional foul on Obika.

And the Shrimps' resistance was broken when substitute Bowditch
converted Murray's cross from close range with 14 minutes remaining.

The Glovers had created chance after chance in the first half but
constantly failed to find the finishing touch to some sound build-up play.

Yeovil should have taken the lead after 32 minutes when Andy Walsh raced
clear, but his shot rose uncontrollably over the bar.

Southend remained in the game largely thanks to the brilliance of former
Yeovil goalkeeper Mildenhall, who made a number of fine saves.

TILSON: DECISIONS WENT AGAINST US

Steve Tilson was left to rue major decisions going against Southend
United in their defeat at Yeovil Town.

The Blues chief had nothing but praise for the effort of his players,
but felt the red card shown to Sean Morrison cost them getting something
out of the game.

"The officials have ruined the game today," Steve told Blues Player.

"I haven't seen the DVD of the game, but it looks like Adam Barrett was
coming back to cover when Sean Morrison was sent off.

"I don't think it was a free kick when Yeovil scored and apparently
their player has handballed it in.

"I thought the lads were excellent today and felt we deserved something
out of the game, especially playing with 10 men for so long.

"The referee told Sean four times that he was only going to book him,
but then shows him a yellow card and that has cost us the game.

"There were three major decisions and they have all gone against us.

"Steve Mildenhall made some important saves in the first half for us and
thought Yeovil had run out of ideas in the second half.

"I'm so disappointed, but we have to solider on and get back to winning
ways against MK Dons on Friday."

Southend United suffered a late 1-0 defeat at Yeovil Town, having been
forced to play with 10 men for over an hour in wet and windy conditions
at Huish Park.

Sean Morrison endured a debut to forget for the Blues, as he was sent
off in the first half having only signed for the club on the day of the
game. His arrival was a needed boost to the lack of numbers available in
defence, but his red card and subsequent suspension becomes another body
blow to the team.

Despite some sturdy rearguard action and brilliant saves from Steve
Mildenhall against his former club, Yeovil eventually made their extra
man count and scored the winning goal through substitute Dean Bowditch
13 minutes from time.

The first chance of the match arrived in the 12th minute, with Southend
involved in a neat exchange of quick passes around the Yeovil penalty
area, which eventually led to Simon Francis' low cross being turned into
the side netting by Francis Laurent.

Yeovil soon thought they had taken the lead, as Stefan Stam powerfully
met an in-swinging corner with a header that looked goal bound until
Franck Moussa did enough to get his body in the way to clear the ball
off the line.

And the hosts soon found themselves in another great position to take
the lead when Scott Murray ghosted his way inside the box from the right
flank, with only an excellent save from the legs of Mildenhall beating
away his low shot.

Mildenhall soon repeated the trick by producing an even better stop to
keep out a shot from John Obika, as the striker got away from his marker
before drilling a strike that was superbly turned around the post with
his left hand.

In the 31st minute though, the Blues were left up against it after being
reduced to 10 men. Morrison had only just signed on loan from Swindon
Town, but he was shown a red card, after being penalised for pulling
back Obika on his way towards goal.

With Adam Barrett hurrying back to provide cover at the time, the
decision was certainly controversial.

Southend's task was already tough enough in trying to beat the elements,
as Christophe moved back from midfield into the centre of defence before
Ryan Mason came close from the resultant free kick when he arrowed the
ball just wide of the right-hand post.

Yeovil then looked to make the most of the numerical advantage at the
end of the first half, with Andrew Welsh missing a gilt-edged chance, as
he bypassed a sliding challenge from Alan McCormack to race through on
goal, only to blaze over the top with just Mildenhall to beat.

In the second half, Yeovil beat the offside trap early on to present
Murray with a free route to goal, but he took too long controlling the
ball and proceeded to shoot wide of the target.

A left foot shot from Mason sailed just past the left-hand post before
McCormack mistimed a clearance and allowed Welsh to run through on goal,
but before he could pull the trigger, Anthony Grant had rushed back to
halt the danger.

The pressure continued from Yeovil and although Southend were doing
their best to hold tight, Mason was still able to get in an effort at
goal, which needed another fine save from Mildenhall to keep it out.

The Blues had battled manfully and kept Yeovil at bay with just 10 men,
but the deadlock was broken in the 77th minute, with Bowditch reacting
first to a free kick inside the box to prod the ball past Mildenhall.

It was always going to be tough for Southend to get back on level terms
and as it was, Mildenhall was called upon to make another impressive
save with his legs to deny Bowditch scoring again in the closing stages.

Morrison ready for Shrimpers action

Town defender Sean Morrison admits he is ready for action after sealing
a loan switch to League One side Southend United until 12th December 2009.

Morrison made quite an impression after breaking into the first team as
a 17-year old and has now made 27 appearances for Town.

However, the form of Gordon Greer and Scott Cuthbert has limited the
18-year old to just six first team appearances so far this term, and
with reserve team fixtures sporadic - Morrison is looking forward to
returning to the first team fold.

"It has been difficult just training without a game at the end of the
week, so when the chance to go out on loan came up I thought it would be
a good option for me - to play week in, week out," Morrison told
Swindontownfc.co.uk

"Southend have a decent side and are doing well in League One and I
think I would have regretted the decision not to go there and get more
experience.

"Scotty and Gordon have been fantastic this season and that's why my
opportunities have been limited. Playing for Southend will help me keep
my match fitness and sharpness up and it's in League One too - a level
which I am familiar with."

The defender is also looking forward to what will be a new experience on
the first loan spell of his fledgling career.

"It will be a new experience for me, that's for sure. I don't know
anyone at Southend and it will be something different for me. Hopefully
I am going to feature at Yeovil.

Glovers must get back to winning ways

WITH Yeovil Town lying 14th in Coca-Cola League One after 15 games, they
are reaching a point in the season where they can go one of three ways:
up, down or nowhere.

No doubt the Huish Park faithful would love for the club to push on and
give themselves a competitive chance of challenging for a play-off spot
come May, but a poor run of results could see them fighting a very
different battle in a few months' time. And games like this will decide
which way they will go.

Southend United make the trip to Somerset today, as the Glovers look to
get back on track following the FA Cup exit at the hands of Oxford
United and a heavy defeat away to the high-flying Leeds.

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton is looking to get over the recent defeats
and is confident that a solid week in training can help them improve
their fortunes. "It seems a long time ago now, we put that behind us and
we move on," he said.

"We have had a good week's training under our belts and we go into this
game a lot stronger – as a stronger squad as well as a stronger team.

"We have worked on our shape all week, looking at the way we are going
to play and it's worked out well, so hopefully we can transform that
training form into a game scenario."

The former Yeovil captain knows that his side will be up against it as
they take on a club reeling from financial troubles in recent weeks. "It
just seems every team that we come up against has had some sort of
financial problems and we have our own," he added.

"They've got some decent strikers with good movement and with people
like [Adam] Barrett at the back, they've got some real committed
performers. We know what to expect and we now how to respond.

"We've been playing well recently, we've been passing the ball around
well, we've been creating lots of opportunities and I think we've scored
quite a lot of goals this season.

"For us there are positives, there are more positives than negatives and
we go into this game this weekend expecting to put on a good show."

Town welcome ex-Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch back for contention
following his dislocated shoulder and Skiverton is confident that the
youngster will not have a repeat of the injury.

"For the last two weeks he's had full contact and going into this game
at the weekend there's nothing structurally wrong with the shoulder now,
so it's all healed," he explained.

John Obika, Shaun MacDonald and Ryan Mason returned to their parent club
Tottenham Hotspur, to play in a friendly during the week, and Skiverton
was understandably delighted to see Obika net four times in a 7-1
victory over Crystal Palace.

"It's just a shame it was for Tottenham and not Yeovil Town!" he joked.
"It's good for their confidence to go back. That's the relationship we
have with Tottenham. They go back every now and again just so they can
see how they've progressed and they had a real good run out in the week,
all three of them."

But while the young manager cannot wait to get into today's game, he is
more than happy to finally have a home tie after three away trips on the
bounce.

"We're back at home again, that was our third away game on the spin
which isn't really nice.

"We had Bristol Rovers away and then Leeds away but you've got to do it
and when you do get at home you've got to start taking points. So what
we have in our minds is to put in a good performance for the supporters
and put that result last weekend away."

If the Glovers claim victory over the Seasiders today they will move
above them in the table, and could do as high as tenth.

Steve Mildenhall heads back to Yeovil Town this weekend

STEVE Mildenhall heads back to Yeovil Town tomorrow with Southend United
insisting the makeshift Shrimpers can claim all three points.

Anthony Grant and Jean-Francois Christophe again look like being used
out of position in defence for Steve Tilson’s side.

But Mildenhall, who made 85 appearances during two seasons with the
Glovers, is sure Southend can taste more success at Huish Park.

“We may have a few injuries and players out of position but I think we
still have enough about us to get a result there,” said Mildenhall, 31.

“We have Alan McCormack and Lee Barnard back from suspension which is
good and we’re looking to bounce back from losing to Gillingham in the
FA Cup last weekend.”

Blues were beaten 3-0 at the Priestfield Stadium but Mildenhall still
impressed between the sticks.

He made a couple of smart stops to deny Febian Brandy and also saved the
first penalty of his Shrimpers career as he kept out Simeon Jackson’s
effort having previously let in 15 successive efforts from the spot.

“Personally it was very pleasing to save the penalty,” said Mildenhall.

“It was pleasing for Lee Turner and Ian Joyce as well because we’re a
unit and we all work hard together.

“We research the penalty takers and thankfully I managed to save it on
Saturday. Not much had been made of it inside the club but I know people
were mentioning it on the outside and it was nice to keep one out.”

Mildenhall, who left Yeovil to join Blues in June 2008, therefore heads
back to his former club full of confidence.

And he is relishing taking on some familiar faces, which includes Town’s
manager Terry Skiverton.

“It would have been strange if I was still there and suddenly had to
start calling him boss but he’s done very well for them,” said Mildenhall.

“He has the moaning Welshman Nathan Jones as his assistant and they’ve
done a good job.

“Last season they kept the club up and they’ve made a decent start this
year.

“I’m looking forward to going back because there is something extra
special against playing one of your old teams but it will be a hard game
as they have a great record at home this season.”

Southend go into the game 10th in the League One table and, despite the
problems they had faced this season both on and off the pitch, they
remain just four points from the play-offs.

STRIKER Dean Bowditch is said to be "chomping at the bit" to get back
into playing action for Yeovil Town.

Glovers boss Terry Skiverton has told the BBC that the medical staff has
given him the go-ahead to return to first-team football.

Bowditch, who joined Yeovil in the summer, has not played for the
Glovers since the opening day of the 2009-10 when he picked-up a nasty
shoulder injury having scored in Yeovil's 2-0 success over Tranmere Rovers.

Although it will be great to see Bowditch back again, it is more than
likely that he will have to start off from the bench given his lack of
match fitness following a three-month lay-off.

And Skiverton said: "It's still a bit early with Dean.

"This week my physio and my doctor have said that this is the first time
that we are allowed to use him in anger.

"For the last week or week and a half, he has had full contact in
training and he goes into this weekend's game where there is nothing
structurally wrong with his shoulder now.

"So it's all healed and he is chomping at the bit to get back in and to
try and fight for a place in the team."

Bowditch was an unused sub during last weekend's FA Cup First Round
defeat at Oxford United, although he was there to make up the numbers.

YEOVIL Town Ladies' FA Women's Cup First Round tie at Saltash United
Ladies on Sunday has been switched to South Somerset.

It means the game will be played at the Tintinhull Sports Ground with a
1pm kick-off.

The Saltash area of Cornwall has had a massive amount of rain this week,
and it became apparent yesterday that the fixture would not take place,
despite the home club trying to secure a number of venues.

Under the competition rules, if a tie is postponed twice, the away side
has the option to switch the game to their ground on the third week.

This option would have been taken up next week, but following special
permission from the Football Association both clubs have instead decided
to play the game this week, so as not to interfere with future league games.

The Glovers usual home ground at Somerton could not guarantee that the
pitch would be playable this weekend with the amount of rain predicted
over the next 24 hours, but the staff at Tintinhull were confident that
their top pitch would be alright, so again following permission from the
Football Association, the venue was switched.

The FA Women's Cup First Round tie between Saltash United Ladies and
Yeovil Town Ladies will take place at the Tintinhull Sports Ground on
Sunday - kick-off at 1pm.

BOWDITCH BOOST FOR YEOVIL
Yeovil v Southend.

Yeovil are set to be boosted by the return of striker Dean Bowditch for
the home game against Southend.

Bowditch, who joined the Glovers in the summer, scored on his league
debut for Town - an opening-day 2-0 win over Tranmere - but suffered a
shoulder injury that subsequently sidelined the former Ipswich forward.

He is set to come back into contention as Yeovil bid to get back on
track following a 4-0 League One defeat at leaders Leeds and last week's
1-0 FA Cup loss at Oxford.

Goalkeeper Richard Martin played at the Kassam Stadium in the absence of
on-loan Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, as the Royals did not want
McCarthy cup-tied.

Southend will check on the fitness of defender Johnny Herd.

Herd suffered a suspected tear to his hamstring in last weekend's FA Cup
defeat at Gillingham but scans have shown he only suffered a muscle
spasm, so manager Steve Tilson will leave it until the last minute to
check on him.

On-loan defender Jean-Yves M'voto is definitely ruled out, though, after
undergoing hip surgery on Thursday. Osei Sankofa is also sidelined with
a knee injury.

Leading scorer Lee Barnard is back from suspension and will slot
straight into Tilson's side, while Alan McCormack will also fancy his
chances of a recall after returning from a ban.

The Shrimpers avoided entering administration this week after chairman

under 18 youth team home game against Yeovil tomorrow.

The under 16 game against Torquay has also been postponed, as have all
of our Boys Centre of Excellence games this weekend from under 9s upwards.

No decision has been made regarding Girls Centre of Excellence matches
as yet.

TILSON HOPES FOR FOUR IN A ROW

Southend United boss Steve Tilson hopes to make it four wins in a row at
Yeovil Town's Huish Park ground on Saturday.

The Blues chief has won on his last three visits to the West Country club.

And he is keen to heap more misery on Yeovil when his side face the
Glovers tomorrow.

"We've done well at Yeovil over the last few years so hopefully we can
keep it going this weekend," Tilson told Blues Player.

"They're quite strong at home though so it will be hard and they have
got together a strong, athletic side who will certainly test us."

Tilson will welcome back Alan McCormack and Lee Barnard from one match
suspensions.

But left-back Johnny Herd is unlikely to travel having injured his
hamstring against Gillingham.

"Johnny's hamstring is better than we first thought," he said.

"But I don't think he will be fit to play tomorrow but he won't be out
for as long as we thought which is good news because we are short of
players."

Southend United will have striker Lee Barnard and midfielder Alan
McCormack available for Saturday's trip to Yeovil Town.

The pair sat out last weekend's FA Cup defeat against Gillingham through
suspension.

But after completing their one match ban for accumulating five yellow
cards, the duo will return to the starting line-up at Huish Park.

However, Blues boss Steve Tilson has doubts over the fitness of
left-back Johnny Herd.

Herd was subbed during the defeat at the Priestfield Stadium with a
hamstring problem a week ago.

Although scans this week have confirmed that the 20-year-old has not
torn the muscle Saturday's match against the Glovers may come too soon.

Osei Sankofa (knee) and Jean-Yves M'Voto (hip) both remain sidelined
through injury.

SOUTHEND United midfielder Alan McCormack is hoping to put the problems
of the last few weeks behind him at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

The central-midfielder missed the Shrimpers’ FA Cup first round defeat
to Gillingham through suspension after notching up five bookings.

And the recent financial problems surrounding Blues have also had an
impact on the 25-year-old player off the pitch.

But McCormack is preying things will get better as he strives to regain
his top form.

“I haven’t played as well as I can and I think lots of people would say
that,” admitted McCormack.

“My passing hasn’t been like what it should and, although I’m not
playing badly, I know I’m capable of better.”

His next chance to impress comes at Yeovil and McCormack cannot wait for
kick-off against the Glovers.

“Having to sit and watch the boys at Gillingham was very hard to take
last week,” he said.

“The Yeovil game can’t come fast enough now and we want to go there and
get all three points.”

McCormack picked up his fifth booking of the campaign during the 1-0
League One win over Gillingham on October 30.

And that led to him serving a one-match suspension when the two teams
played again in the FA Cup at the Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

But, despite the ban, McCormack feels he has improved his disciplinary
record which has been much worse in his past seasons with the Shrimpers.

“I think I’ve calmed down a lot,” said McCormack.

“I don’t make the stupid challenges I used to when I was a bit younger
and I’m not as full blown as I was either but maybe that has taken
something away from my game.”

But McCormack admitted his Southend colleagues have had more than just
their football to worry about this season.

The 25-year-old has been among those being paid late this term by the
cash-strapped Shrimpers.

And that has made life off the pitch just as tough as on it for the
Irishman.

“It’s hard when you’re getting paid 10 to 12 days late because we aren’t
earning Premier League money,” said McCormack.

“We have mortgages and bills to pay just like everyone else and a few of
us have missed a few payments which is never good with the banks.

“It’s been worrying wondering if you have enough money to buy food and
of course it does affect you.

“We’ve been paid now for last month which is great but we’re still owed
bonuses from the start of the season and hopefully that can be sorted
out as well.”

Blues’ poor financial position also almost saw them enter administration
last week but they were able to pay off a £2.1 million debt to the tax
man just in time.

Despite the difficulties, the team remain 10th in the League One table
and McCormack insisted the problems had helped bring the players closer
together.

“We’ve had regular meetings about our situation and it was decided that
we just had to go out and give our all no matter what was happening,”
said McCormack.

“We owe that to our supporters too. They have been magnificent again and
in our last game against Gillingham the noise they made was incredible
and it really did make a difference to us.”

Midfielder offered Millers chance

Rotherham hope to sign former Yeovil and Crewe midfielder Gary Roberts.

The 22-year-old, released by the Glovers in September, is currently
without a club and has been offered a deal by the Millers.

"He's only 22 but has real talent," Millers boss Ronnie Moore told BBC
Radio Sheffield.

"He impressed us when he played for our reserves this week. He has a
great range of passing. When he's up to full fitness he would be a great
asset."

Roberts, who has admitted suffering from drink and gambling problems,
recently visited the Sporting Chance Clinic as he tries to get his
career back on track.

"People say he comes with baggage but his attitude has been first class.
I think he deserves a second chance and I hope he takes up our offer,"
Moore said.

Meanwhile the Millers revealed they have failed in an attempt to sign
Leeds United striker Enoch Showunmi.

Minstermen Bring in Gall

Blue Square Premier club York City have signed former Carlisle United
and Yeovil striker Kevin Gall, who was released by Darlington last month.

Gall was a free agent following his departure from the Quakers. He also
spent time at Yeovil Town and Bristol Rovers, while serving loan spells
with both Lincoln City and Port Vale.

The 27-year-old originally began his career with Newcastle United and
went on to earn Wales under-21 international honours.

York's latest arrival was named on the bench for the 3-2 win over
Chester City on Tuesday evening. He replaced on loan striker Adam Boyes,
who has returned to Scunthorpe United.

Latvian international returns to Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town announced last night that former Glovers' midfielder Andrejs
Stolcers has returned to Huish Park for training.

The club's official website reported last night that Stolcers, 35, an
experienced Latvian international, is looking for a club in England and
has been allowed to join Yeovil in order to maintain his fitness levels.

Stolcers made 43 appearances for the Glovers in the 2004-05 season and
scored seven goals - it was the campaign that saw Yeovil win the
Coca-Cola League Two championship and reach the Fourth Round of the FA
Cup where they lost out 3-2 at the then Premier League club Charlton
Athletic.

The news comes just a few days after Yeovil's FA Cup exit at Oxford
United in the First Round. Ironically, Stolcers first goals for the
Glovers came in a 6-1 hammering of Oxford at Huish Park in a League Two
fixture on September 18, 2004.

One of his best displays for Yeovil, I seem to recall, came in the
Glovers' comfortable 3-0 victory at Rotherham United in the FA Cup Third
Round that season, in which he scored.

But Stolcers, who is now back at Huish Park four years on, is delighted
to have returned to Somerset and reacquaint himself with the locals.

"I am really grateful to Terry Skiverton (Yeovil manager) for allowing
me to train here at the moment," he told the Glovers official website.

"I am looking for an English club and believe I can still offer
something to a Blue Square Premier team or around that level.

"I realise my options are limited at my age though."

Jon Obika hit four as a young Spurs side defeated Crystal Palace 7-1 in
a friendly match held at Spurs Lodge on Tuesday.

The striker, currently on-loan at League One side Yeovil Town, is
clearly benefitting from regular senior football and looked in
unstoppable form in front of goal.

He was joined by in the side by Troy Archibald-Henville (Exeter City),
Jake Livermore (Derby County), Steven Caulker and Ryan Mason (both
Yeovil also) - all returning to the club from respective loan spells to
feature in the game.

Michael Dawson captained the side as he kept up his match fitness during
international break.

Visitors Palace, meanwhile, fielded a number of first team players,
including Nick Carle, Matt Lawrence, Victor Moses, Sean Scannell and
Ryan Smith.

But they were no match for the hosts, who took a first minute lead
through a superb Mason volley - the result never looked in doubt from
that point on.

John Bostock, playing against his former club, then played in Obika for
his first after 10 minutes, and the 19-year-old doubled his tally on the
half-hour mark after great work from Mason.

Ben Alnwick was between the sticks after appearing on the first team
bench for the first time this season on Saturday, and he made a crucial
penalty save just after half-time, enabling us to put the game well
beyond the South Londoners.

On 64 minutes, Bostock made it four after a throughball from Paul-Jose
M'Poku. Troy Archibald-Henville's towering header from a corner made it
five on 71 minutes.

Harry Kane's inch-perfect ball was converted by Obika for his hat-trick
on 77 minutes and, after a direct run from pacy winger Ryan Fredericks,
last season's Young Player of the Year rounded off our scoring with his
fourth nine minutes from time.

There still was time for Alnwick to be beaten from the penalty spot late
on, but it was scant consolation for the visitors.

YEOVIL Town's on-loan striker Jon Obika returned to his parent club at
Tottenham Hotspur yesterday and netted four goals in a reserve game fixture.

Obika, who is currently on loan with the Glovers from Spurs, played a
leading role in Tottenham's 7-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Glovers' two other players on loan from Spurs, Ryan Mason and Steven
Caulker, also played in the game.

Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton will be hoping that Obika can reproduce that
kind of goalscoring form when the Glovers take on Southend United at
Huish Park in the Coca-Cola League One on Saturday. Kick-off at 3pm.

YEOVIL Town are set to be boosted by the return from injury of striker
Dean Bowditch ahead of Saturday's home Coca-Cola League One match
against Southend United.

The 23-year-old former Ipswich Town forward joined Yeovil in July on a
one-year deal and made an immediate impact, scoring in the 2-0
opening-day home League One win over Tranmere Rovers before suffering a
shoulder injury.

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton said: "It's a big boost to get Dean
Bowditch back, especially with all the injuries we have been having. It
gives me another option, which is great."

Bowditch was due to have a Huish Park run-out in last night's Somerset
Cup tie at home to Brislington but the second-round tie was postponed
due to a waterlogged pitch. Skiverton will urge his team to concentrate
getting back on track against Southend in Saturday's clash at Huish Park.

The injury-hit Glovers were knocked out of the FA Cup 1-0 at Oxford
United last Saturday, following a 4-0 defeat at leaders Leeds United
last time out in League One.

Skiverton said: "Obviously, we are all disappointed to have gone out of
the Cup but now we must look ahead, we are back in League action on
Saturday and it's at home. We have had such a good spell recently that I
will give the team the benefit of the doubt and expect a response from
them at home against Southend."

FALMOUTH Town recorded their third consecutive victory with a 3-2
success in last night's Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier
Division game at Liskeard Athletic.

The victory moved Town up five places in the League, while Liskeard were
left with a second defeat in the last four days that leaves them fourth
from bottom.

The visitors were gifted their opening as goalkeeper Rob Brown's poor
clearance only found Nigel Thwaites for the veteran striker to fire over
the stranded 'keeper from 25 yards after just eight minutes.

Liskeard hit back with Dimitri Kanakh firing them level before the
break. Things looked bright for Leigh Cooper's side when Adam Trudgian
fired home Richard Kellow's scuffed clearance from 25 yards early in the
second half.

Falmouth hit back when Danny O'Hagan heading home substitute Jimmy
Alexander's corner 17 minutes from time.

Then, six minutes later, they grabbed their winner when Liskeard's Carl
Pender had the misfortune to net an own goal, sending the points back to
Bickland Park.

YEOVIL Town are once again supporting the annual Royal British Legion
Poppy Appeal.

The players will wear a special strip for the forthcoming Coca-Cola
League One clash with Southend United on Saturday, November 14, at Huish
Park where their shirts will be embroidered with a poppy.

The shirts will be auctioned off at the end of the game and go towards
the Poppy Appeal.

Organisers are hoping that each shirt will fetch at least £100.

Bids should be made to County Secretary John Prior at

The minimum bid for each shirt will be £30 and all fans will be informed
of the current highest bid when their own bid has been surpassed so that
they can increase their bid as required.

Supporters have until midday on Monday, November 30, to make their bids
after which the winners will be announced.

The shirts will not be framed but will be signed front and back by the
respective player to show they are the authentic item.

County British Legion branch secretary, John Prior, himself a big Yeovil

with Brislington at Huish Park tonight has been postponed due to a
waterlogged pitch.

A Glovers spokesman said: "The referee has inspected the pitch this
morning and, in anticipation of further rain today, the decision was
made to postpone the game."

YEOVIL Town Ladies have been given a home tie in the Second Round of the
FA Women's Cup - as long as they beat Saltash United in their First
Round fixture.

The Glovers were left thwarted on Sunday when the weather ruled out the
tie at Saltash's Kimberley Stadium. The re-arranged game has been set
for this weekend.

But the draw for the Second Round took place at Wembley Stadium
yesterday and if Yeovil can get past Saltash they will then be at home
to either Cullompton Rangers or Forest Green Rovers in the Second Round.

Ladies team manager Steve Phelps said: "Obviously we have still to
qualify for the second round, but I'm pleased with the draw.

"It's a home tie, and that is always good. It will be interesting to see
who we potentially play.

"Cullompton have been doing well lately and will make it difficult at
their own ground for Forest Green.

"All I'm worried about at the moment though, is preparing our players
for Sunday's match, where we need to go down and get the right result
against Saltash.

"If and when we get through, then we'll start to plan for the Second
Round. But yes, I'm pleased."

Bowditch set to make a playing return for Yeovil Town

THE forgotten man of Huish Park, striker Dean Bowditch, is expected to
make his return to action for Yeovil Town in tomorrow's Somerset Premier
Cup tie with Brislington.

The Glovers take on Brislington tomorrow evening at Huish Park and
Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton has pencilled in the name of Bowditch to
play some part in the proceedings.

Bowditch, a former Ipswich Town striker, joined the Glovers during the
summer, but picked-up a serious shoulder injury in the opening match of
the 2009-10 season against Tranmere Rovers and has been on the sidelines
ever since.

A club spokesman, speaking to Yeovil's official website, said: "Dean,
having already scored once in the 2-0 victory over Tranmere, was scythed
down in full flow as he was through on goal and landed awkwardly on his
shoulder.

"He left the field of play in pain and was immediately ruled out for
four months after a pre-op assessment. His operation went well though
and his return is ahead of the original date."

Bowditch was named in the Yeovil squad for Saturday's ill-fated FA Cup
First Round defeat at Oxford United, but was an unused substitute.

But with Bowditch now set to make his long-awaited comeback tomorrow it
will be warmly welcomed by Skiverton and the Yeovil fans.

Yeovil Town must arrest their dip in results before it becomes a major
problem, according to manager Terry Skiverton.

The boss has demanded a fighting response from the Glovers in their next
game at home to Southend at the weekend, after the League One club were
beaten 1-0 in the FA Cup first round by Oxford United on Saturday.

The loss at the Kassam Stadium was Yeovil’s second in consecutive
matches and the fourth time they have fallen at the competition’s first
hurdle in as many seasons.

Jack Midson grabbed the Blue Square Premier club’s only goal of the
game, making the most of a defensive slip from Craig Alcock.

Skiverton said: “It will be straight back to the league calendar now and
back to our fight for league survival, it is as simple as that.

“They were not over-awed, they have just had an off day.

“I have had enough bad days in my career, so I know what they are going
through and it is how you respond and how you react.

“Do you let that get you down or do you show a bit of fighting spirit
and really kick on and get back to the league campaign?

“It was a big game and I thought I had built it up enough for them, but
perhaps it did come as a bit of a shock to them.

“I am just disappointed because maybe we could have had a bit of fun and
drawn decent teams in the future.

“But it was not to be. I am going to put it down to a bad day and it is
up to us as a managerial staff and a team to make sure this does not
become a (poor) run of form.

“We have been on a good run and we do not immediately want to go on a
bad run.

“If people go out there and do not perform then these things happen.

“It was not just one or two individuals, it was as a team.

“We have got to accept that and we have got to get on with it, lick our
wounds and make sure we go into the Southend game with our confidence
built back up and ready to fight for our lives in League One.”
