JOHNSON HAILS BARTOSZ
09:30 - 02 August 2004
Yeovil Town boss Gary Johnson is backing new striker Bartosz Tarachulski to
Pole-axe sides this season. His Eastern European signing grabbed a quick-fire
hat-trick in the Glovers' 4-2 pre-season friendly win at Torquay United,
with Adrian Caceres also scoring.
Johnson said: "He will be a big plus for us. They were well-taken goals and
he will go into the season nice and confident. He trains and plays like a
17-year-old, but with the head of a 29-year-old."
Tarachulski is still trying to grasp English and simply admitted he was
"very happy" with his performance.
Johnson says Tarachulski and fellow strikers Kevin Gall and Phil Jevons will
go into next weekend's Coca-Cola Football League Two opener at Bury in
red-hot form.
"It's great to have the strikers flying at the moment," he said.
Jevons could start tonight's friendly at Tiverton Town (7.45) after coming
on as a substitute and impressing following his recovery from a knee injury
sustained on Yeovil's European tour.
Johnson said: "He's another great player and will excite people. He's a good
striker of a ball, very dangerous and he's that fox in the box.
"I'll see how Jevons is on Monday to see if he is fully ready to start. But
it's nice to know that we can still go into the season with our other two
strikers in form.
"Gall is in form - not necessarily scoring - but he's dangerous and he's
opening things up for people and is a threat in behind, that's for sure, so we
can wait until Jevons is ready.
"People were talking about Jevons coming in and Gall losing his place, but
he's kept his place, and if they're in there and doing well then as a manager
you keep them going."
Paul Terry and Andy Lindegaard missed the Torquay game with thigh injuries,
but Johnson said that they should also feature against Tiverton.
