It would be a long answer...but in (not so)
short.

I studied Tracy Kempo in the early '70s in
Massachusetts and White Dragon Pai Lum with Pai-Yili (Tom
Parish in PA.) in the mid '70's. (just as Cynthia
Rothrock was ending her tournament scene, I can tell you
some stories about her in the dojo that she wouldn't
want known ..well maybe I wouldn't)... Then with
Master St. Charles in Connecticut

In the early
'80s I went to Israel for a six month program and was
hooked on the army scene there and spent 3 years there 2
in the army ending as a Sergeant 2nd class. The
experiences there in the Hebron and Hertzelia areas were
nothing that M/A training could prepare you
for.

When I returned, I began to train with Prof. Mauray in
Shotokan in NYC and with Thomas Casale in brooklyn. I
began to volunteer with the NYCPD's Auxiliary and
C.O.P. and BECAUSE they can't carry guns, I felt very
capable.

During the riots in 1991 in Crown Heights, the PD sent
me in as being Jewish, to find out what was going
on. In the end, the response from the rioters was
exactly like the Palestinians in Israel....

They
would throw rocks, stones, bottles, potted-plants and
anything else they could lift at you, until you were
knocked senseless. Then they would move in and beat you.
And in one case death. (Yankel Rosenbaum a student
from australia)

In Israel the children would
throw rocks. In NYC the children would light bottle
rockets and aim them towards other (race)
children.

The experiences were educational in that, best not to
be there. There is NO defense in those scenarios.
Unless you carry an Uzi with mutliple magazines and the
RIGHT and WILLPOWER to use them.

That is where
those rules I said come from.

The terrorist
tactics.
Strike when nobody knows
Strike from a safe place,
preferrably behind some
innocents.
Strike from multiple
simultaneous locations.

They are always willing to
inflict more damage that we are. That is why they
win.

I won't get into politics. but those lessons are
valid everywhere, when dealing in "PUBLIC" areas as a
group.

Agreed, you cant compare the scenarios.

Wartime
army vs. Hostile population

and

Police
vs. Local Group of Protestors

I've got to stop
babbling. Especially, as my days of glory are over. I'm 47
years old and I'm now all broken up. I have 2 herniated
disks in my neck, 2 in my lower back. I have
micro-fractures in both my knees and bi-lateral shoulder
laxity.
And I'm not ready for surgery yet.

Thanks for
listening.
Zerok
SWDKF
