hi omar,
i believe this is due to the bandwidth availablity of the site specifically
with geocities. every site on the net allows only a specific number of users or
as said, data transfers. more users browsing the site equals more traffic. more
traffic leads to quick loss of the available bandwidth... thus prohibiting
latter users to access the site.
once the site had been turned off temporarily.. it would mean a restart or
refreshing of the network. this will again allow users to browse the pages. this
is not necessary though, because the servers are automatically refreshed
periodically. we just have to wait until there would be an available
bandwidth... then we can browse the site again.
hope this helps.
best regards,
bon bautista
btw, sir wanlu, ang galing!!!! ipakita ko kay sir zapata itong site niya this
week. =P

Hi Wanlu,
Just want to inform you that there's an error on the
site, below is the message when I tried to access the
page.
"Sorry, this GeoCities site is currently unavailable.
The GeoCities web site you were trying to view has
temporarily exceeded its data transfer limit. Please
try again later"
Below are the things you need to do to prevent the
error.
"What can I do when I exceed my data transfer?
If you exceed your data transfer limit, we'll
temporarily turn off your web site. To avoid these
service interruptions, you can:"
"Reduce the overall size of your site. If you are
hosting a large music or video file, and it becomes
popular, you could use all of your data transfer with
this one download. You can try reducing the size of
your larger files, or remove them your site
completely.
Buy more data transfer. If you're a GeoCities Plus or
Pro user, you can choose to automatically purchase
extra data transfer instead of temporarily shutting
down your web site. Learn more.
Upgrade your plan. Both GeoCities Plus and GeoCities
Pro offer increased data transfer, as well as the
ability to buy additional data transfer as you need
it. Learn more. "
regards,
Omar
