Greetings my brothers in Yaw-Yan...Ive read the posts in Martial
Arts Planet re our Mountain Storm kick (Lulod Pabulusok) as well as
forums in other sites re the Mountain Storm kick. You cant blame
them, they dont know what Yaw-Yan is...when they look at us, they
see the shorts and they think Yaw-Yan is MuayThai...the similiraty
of course is notable but the principle of Yaw-Yan is definitely far
from MuayThai...dont get me wrong, Im not saying we are better or
MuayThai is better, I learned both styles and the Principles and
techniques are absolutely different.
However, the superiority of Yaw-Yan compared to other Philippine
Striking styles gave the world the impression that Yaw-Yan is
MuayThai as posted even in MuayThai sites...This is also the main
reason why most of our MuayThai fighters are former Yaw-Yans
including the National Coach and National Fighters...their training
in Yaw-Yan gave them a big advantage in mastering MuayThai...BUT FOR
THE RECORD ,YAW-YAN IS NOT MUAYTHAI...and also for the record, Im
both a Yaw-Yan and MuayThai fanatic...
Mabuhay ang Yaw-Yan
One World One MuayThai
NOTE: the topic whether the Mountain Storm Kick is a Thai Kick may
never end...its silly to even say that a Yaw-yan bolo punch is
MuayThai or a Karate block is a Tae Kwon Do Block...or a choke is
BJJ or Just plain Jj or judo choke...may be best if we respect
other styles to also get the respect that we dserve...
