Hi, I am a physical therapist and grad student working on my PhD in Sports
Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and I am studying shoulder injuries in
whitewater kayakers. I am finally getting my dissertation study started and need
some volunteers to come in and help me. I am looking for people who have
shoulder pain, which bothers them when they are paddling.
My study looks at several factors which are associated with shoulder pain
including strength and flexibility. Plus, I am doing 3D motion analysis and
measuring muscle activation while kayaking on a stationary kayak.
Testing takes place at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine on the South Side of
Pittsburgh. There is only 1 test session which takes less than 3 hours to
complete. I can schedule testing around your availability (weekends, evenings,
etc). I will be testing starting in January. You will be compensated $100 for
your time. Also, I can evaulate and give suggestions about your shoulder, if you
like.
If you are interested please reply to this email. Just indicate you are a boater
with shoulder pain and I will get back to you with more info.
I really appreciate anyone willing to help. I am ready to graduate!
Thanks,
Craig
