Hey Team! Just reminding everyone that our first practice is tomorrow from 6-8
pm over in Forest Park! Meet at the clock tower at 5:40 sharp if you want a
ride over to the courts. Since we are expecting a lot of players during the
first practices, and since we have a limited number of cars, we cannot guarantee
rides for everyone, and therefore will not be offering rides to anyone after
5:40. It is possible to walk or bike over to the courts. Plan on it being
about a half hour walk. On the flip side, if you have a car and are willing to
help transport players for practice, please help us give rides. It would be
much appreciated.

For those of you who are not part of our google group yet, join it! Go to
groups.google.com/groups/washuclubtennis and request to join! We will stop
using this yahoo group soon, so make sure to join asap.

And lastly, remember that dues will be $60 for the entire year. If you want to
bring a check tomorrow, make it out to Wash U Club Tennis, and we will collect
those starting tomorrow.

That's all I've got. See you tomorrow!

Club Tennis Team,

Welcome Back to Tennis! I hope the summer months treated everyone well. I just
wanted to provide an update to all the returning members as we begin the new
school year. And to the freshman and new members who are already on this list,
welcome!

We will be starting practices next Tuesday, September 8th, from 6-8 pm at Dwight
Davis over in Forest Park. We will have practices every Tuesday and Thursday
from 6-8, plus every Sunday from 4-6 pm at the Wash U Courts (There will
probably be some Sundays where we will not be able to have practice; I will let
everyone know ahead of time when those Sundays are).

We will be providing rides from the clock tower at 5:40 pm for the Tuesday and
Thursday night practices. (Those members with cars, if you would be willing to
give rides, that would be most helpful. In fact, if you have a car and are
willing to give rides, let me know so I can have an estimate as to how many
rides will be available.) However, even with rides, there will probably be too
many students the first few weeks for us to give rides to everyone. Therefore,
we will most likely need some people to either walk or bike over to the courts.
I'd allot 30 minutes to walk over there.

The dues for the entire year will be $60 this year. While this is a hike from
last year, it is still much lower than many of the other clubs, and it pays for
courts, balls, string, gas, hotels, and pretty much everything else but food.
After the first couple of weeks, we're really going to need everyone to pay
those dues. You won't be allowed to practice until they have been paid. But
again, we'll give you a couple of weeks to get settled first.

As for matches, we will be having at least a few matches this fall. One I can
tell you about already is the Fall Invitational in Kansas City over Fall Break
(Oct 16-18). We went to this last year and it was a lot of fun and a great
opportunity for us to play the teams we will face at sectionals. Hopefully we
can take at least two teams to this event.

Lastly, we will have a table set up at the activities fair this wednesday from
4:30-6:30 in Brookings Quad. Feel free to stop by and say hello to your
teammates working the booth.

That's about it for now. I will go over a lot of this information, plus a bunch
more, at our first practice next tuesday. I hope to see all of you there!

Sincerely,

Doug Disabato

President: Overseeing all the other positions.  Coordinating with the school, other teams and tournament officials.  Running practices.  Writing and responding to emails.
Vice President: Helping the president.  Coordinating matches.  Being able to take the president's place at practices or matches if need be.  Usually is training to be president.
Treasurer: Managing and writing budgets.  Filling out expense reports.
Match play coordinators (more than one): Coordinate one match per semester- hotels, drivers, players, etc.
Secretary: Manages paperwork.  Helps at meetings, etc.
Ladder Coordinator:  This was a newly created position that became obsolete because we no longer have a ladder.  I think we'll transform this to more of a practice and player coordinator.  Helps with decisions about player placement, practice matches, etc.
Webmaster: Keeps the website updated.  Preferable if you have some background.

Let me know if you have any questions about the above positions because I just made these descriptions off the top of my head right now.  I hope you guys get involved & excited about Club Tennis!  Looking forward to the emails.

Thanks,

Hey Everybody,
so the tennis volunteering program at Flynn Park starts this upcoming Monday, 3/30, and continues up until we leave for Summer Vacation. The program is every Monday and Thursday from 3:30 PM-4:30 PM. We should have somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 kids each day, which means we will probably want at least 3 (and maybe 4) of us. Flynn Park is only about a 5 minute walk from campus, and can be reached by heading down big bend in the direction of Forest Park and taking either the 1st left-- Pershing-- or 2nd left-- Waterman-- directly after crossing over Forest Park.

So if anyone who is interested could please respond and let me know:
A. What day/days they are available to come
and B. Whether or not they have a car at their disposal
That would be great. If we get enough of us together no one will have to go more than once every 2 weeks or so (unless of course you want to go more often) and you will get paid for your time (though exactly how much still remains to be seen). Plus if people with cars sign on we won't even have to walk our lazy asses over there, so that would be great. Thanks, look forward to hearing back from y'all. This is a great program and the more Club Tennis people we can get together for this, the more fun it will be for the kids (and for us as well).

Peace and Love,
Zach Amittay
