Hello Club Tennis! A lot is going on with the club, so here are some
highlights:
1. Rolla Match this Past Saturday: We sent a team of 10 guys
and 3 girls to Rolla this Saturday, and we handily took away a 9-3
victory against Rolla's club team. Of note was a close #1 Men's
Doubles match won by Eric Waetjen and Sam Werboff.
2. New Practice Time and Place: For this week, practices
will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 pm Monday and Thursday at the Wash U
courts. After this week, we will have the possibility of moving
the time back to 6-8pm, you will receive a survey via email asking you
which time you prefer.
3. Ladder Now Set-Up: Based on the matches that we have been
playing these past two weeks, a team of Club Tennis officers have
created the initial ladder standings, which should be posted on the
Club Tennis website http://sugroups.wustl.edu/~wutennis/ladder.html by
tonight. A disclaimer is necessary: we did the best we could to
objectively represent the result of matches played during the past two
weeks, but some subjective judgement had to enter in to the equation
because of the large number of people and the fact that not everyone
came to every practice. However, if you feel that you are not where
you should be on the ladder, during this week we are giving everyone
one opportunity to challenge wherever they want to on the ladder ,
instead of the usual three spots up. More details, as well as the rest
of the ladder rules, can be found on the above web page. Also, you
need to enter your contact info at this database in our Yahoo group
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/wuclubtennis/database?method=reportRows&tbl=6
so that people can contact each other for challenge matches.
4. SLU Match the Next Two Saturdays: SLU is slated to host two
tournament matches during the next two Saturdays, both of which we will
be participating in. Jeff Gole should be sending an email out soon,
with details about this Saturday's match, and you should email him back
if you are interested.
5. Club Tennis T-shirts: Only the top six guys and girls will
be able to wear the uniforms that we recently got, so please buy a
t-shirt to wear in the match in case. Also, they're great to practice
in and wear around campus. T-shirts are only $10, and you can buy them
at practice.
Hopefully you were are able to get the essentials out of that as you
were thinking, "Damn, he writes too much."
