Hey everyone, I hope you all had good weekends.  This weekend we entered 6 players into the Stl. Collegiate Open which was played at Dwight Davis, Tower Grove, and Heman Park.  Nathan Killian, Stu Webb, Ashish Khatri, Junhee Lee, Jon King, and Gene Cherng represented our club against all varsity players from universities from around the region.  Special recognition goes out to Jon King, who came the closest of any of our players to advancing in the tournament with his hard-fought 2-6, 6-2, 3-10 match.  We also had several Club members help run the Men’s ITA Regional Tournament that the varsity team hosted, which was fun and allowed us to see some great tennis.  

Last week, we played round robin matches to establish our Club Tennis Ladder.  The initial rankings should be up on our website, http://sugroups.wustl.edu/~wutennis, very soon, as well as rules for challenging and moving up and down the ladder.  We want to use the team ladder to encourage competitive play between members of our club and to facilitate who goes to travel matches and who plays 1 singles, etc.  

This week in practice [normal time, 6:00-8:00pm, Mon AND Thurs, at Dwight Davis] we are going to reserve some courts for drills and some for matches, so that if you really want to work on your backhand volley, you can do that, or if you really just want to play some tennis, you can do that to.  That’s all for now, any questions or suggestions, let me know.
