Practice Tomorrow!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #226 of 565 |

Welcome to all our recently added players and those that made it to our first practice.  To remind everyone, Club Tennis practices this fall are being held at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park from 6-8pm.  For ways to get to Dwight Davis, see the bottom of this email, where I have copied a previous email sent by Ashish Khatri.  Some key points for Club Tennis:

  1. Vanderbilt Tournament, Sept. 15-17

We are going to send 2 guys teams or 4 and 1 girls team of 4.  For the guys, we have 5 spots already filled by returning members and 3 open spots for anyone else that will be contested by round robin play.  If you are not Iliya Zejlkovic, Brian Blosser, Doug Story, Jeff Gole, or Ashish Khatri, EMAIL ME IF YOU CAN TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU WILL BE AT PRACTICE TOMORROW, THURSDAY SO THAT I CAN SET UP ROUND ROBIN MATCHES.

  1. Bring dues of $20 to practice tomorrow.  These are important, as they help us pay for Court Rental at Dwight Davis, new tennis balls, and gas and hotel costs for travel matches.
  2. We will have 3 cars to take students from the South 40 to Dwight Davis at 5:40 tomorrow at the Clock Tower, but we can only take 12 people, therefore if you can take any of the alternate ways listed at the bottom of this email, please do so!
  3. New Club Tennis t-shirts are being sold for $10.  They look pretty good, and if you are planning on playing in matches, you should have one to wear to them.

Until tomorrow,

Brian Blosser

Hey folks,

We're holding practices at Dwight Davis in Forest Park until our courts
are finished. There are many different to get out to Dwight Davis.

Carpool:
We will have three cars carpooling to the courts. The cars will be there
at 5:40. Be there on time or we'll have to leave you.

Gold Line Shuttle:
You can catch the Gold Line at Mallinckrodt. Take the Gold line going to
the Medical School. The shuttle will be on Waterman Blvd. for a while and
when it turns onto DeBaliviere say "Next Stop". The shuttle will then
drop you off at the corner of DeBaliviere and Pershing. Walk south on
DeBaliviere towards the History museum. Walk past the history museum and
stay on the left sidewalk. Dwight Davis will be right up ahead.

Metrolink Train:
Take the Metrolink east and get off at the Forest Park station. Once you
go up the steps you'll be on Debaliviere right next to the afore mentioned
shuttle stop. See the shuttle blub above on how to get to Dwight Davis.

Walking:
It's about a 20-25 min walk from the 40. Walk east on Forsyth towards
Forest Park. Cross Skinker into forest park, soon there will be a fork in
the road, stay on the left side. Pass the fountains and the Tennis Center
will be on your right.

Biking/Skateboarding/Scooter:

Well, it’s obvious, but uses your wheeled vehicle to go faster than walking on the walking path.
Hope to see you all out there! If you have any questions feel free to
e-mail me at ahk1@....

Ashish Khatri
