My Impact Review
-------------------------------------------------------
By Chris [email: chris@...]
Opening Segment: Dueces Wild
Jim Cornette is in the ring to make an announcement about the Deuces
Wild tag tournament, and he brings out all of the 8 singles wrestlers
who will be thrown into tag teams at ringside. The tag partners are
going to be picked at random out of a bowl, the first pick is Sting,
who then steps in the ring and draws the name of his partner out of
the bowl…. James Storm! Sting and James Storm will be tag partners
going into Sacrifice. Storm runs in the ring and says he doesn't want
to be friends or partners with Sting, and doesn't want to tag with a
guy whose mother let him play with makeup. Sting lays him out in the
ring and sends Storm heading up the ramp. Cornette books Sting vs.
Storm for TONIGHT on Impact in a No DQ match.
My Review: Nice opening segment and nice tag team concept, may be
weird but least TNA is doing something with the long historic
division known as tag team, WWE is letting it die with no remorse!
In The Parking Lot: Jeremy Borash, Scott Steiner & Kurt Angle
Steiner's limo pulls up and JB is ready to interview him. Steiner
says tonight him and Angle will co-exist at one to eliminate Samoa
Joe. Kurt Angle then pulls up and walks over to say that he and Scott
will co-exist for one night and one night only. Petey Williams and
Rhaka Khan are at Steiner's side as Kurt walks away and we go to
commercial.
Petey Williams vs. Curry Man vs. Johnny Devine vs. Shark Boy vs.
Consequences Creed vs. Jimmy Rave
Johnny Devine was in for a while, he had a nice exchange with Creed
and then hit a cool springboard DDT on Curry Man. Shark Boy gets the
tag and dominates Devine and Jimmy Rave until Petey Williams tags
himself in and takes Shark Boy out by slingshotting himself over the
top rope for a version of the Codebreaker. Devine is in, goes for the
450 splash on Shark Boy but Shark Boy moves out of the way and tags
in Curry Man. Curry Man cleans house and gets a 2-count on Jimmy Rave
after a cross-body. Petey Williams slingshots himself over the top
rope to the outside where he catches Curry Man in mid-air with a
hurricanrana! Creed tosses Shark Boy out of the ring into a pile of
bodies then does a huge flipping suicide dive over the top rope onto
everyone at ringside. Back in the ring, Petey hits the Canadian
Destroyer on Creed, then goes for it on Curry Man but Jimmy Rave
comes up and hits that Shining Wizard that breaks Petey's jaw (or
whatever it was he broke) that we've been reading about in the news
on 24Wrestling.com. Jimmy Raves hits his finisher on Curry Man after
a little help from Lance Hoyt for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Jimmy Rave
This was a good match and I'm glad TNA is still making this division
strong, just can we please do without Curry Man? oh I'm sorry I
forgot that's Christopher Daniels now after that lame Money in the
bank rip off match a few months ago. (Feast of Fire match) that now
made him be "fired"
Backstage: JB and Sting
Sting is backstage talking about his match with James Storm tonight,
saying tonight they're going to beat each other up, then they're
going to beat each other up some more, and they'll work out whatever
they need to work out to become the tag team champs at Sacrifice.
Sting says some weird stuff, but damn he makes it sound good.
Video Package: LAX & Hector Guerrero
A video package highlighting the careers of LAX is shown, without any
footage of Konan. There's some new footage of their meetings with
Hector Guerrero.
Backstage: Jim Cornette & the Knockouts
Cornette is backstage addressing the Knockouts who are upset over the
head-shaving stipulation at Sacrifice. Cornette says they are "making
more static than a $2 I-Pod," and he doesn't want them to think of
him an their enemy, but more of a father figure, "especially you" as
he points to Angelina. He sets up the Sacrifice Immunity match
tonight on Impact, where the winner will be immune from getting her
head shaved at Sacrifice.
My Review: WHAT?! ok some might have gotten this idea, but I don't, I
mean Jim said runner up would have her head shaved? um isn't that the
person who doesn't win the ladder match or the last one eliminated in
the battle royal to make it two left? I'm confused!
Backstage: Team 3D vs. Christian & Rhino vs. LAX
Team 3D and Christian & Rhino are facing off backstage. Brother Ray
says that Team 3D has been beating their asses for the last ten
years. A brawl breaks out and they are fighting all over the
backstage area until LAX comes out and lays them all down. Hernandez
hits a Border Toss on Christian through a table. Homicide grabs the
camera and says they are the favorites to win at Sacrifice, and they
are the future of TNA.
My Review: Personality I'm tired of LAX I never liked them, most fans
are going to boo me on this but I'm rooting for either team 3D or
Rhino and Cage to win.
Sacrifice Immunity: Gail Kim vs. ODB vs. Christy Hemme vs. Rhaka Khan
vs. Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love vs. Salinas vs. Jacqueline vs. Roxxi
Laveaux
Whoever removes the barber sheers from the 10-foot poll on the side
of the ring will gain immunity for the head-shaving match at
Sacrifice on Sunday. Traci is first to go for the pole. Gail Kim
tries to take her down but Traci grabs her head and does a flying
bulldog off the tope rope bringing Gail down to the mat. ODB is close
but Salinas pushes her down all the way to ringside then hits a
tornado DDT on Roxxi into the ring. Christy goes for the FFG off the
top rope but ODB moves. Traci once again goes for the pole but ODB
catches her does a fallaway slam off the second rope. Roxxi hits the
Voodoo Drop on Salinas. Christy goes up the pole for the sheers but
ODB and Gail Kim climb the ropes for a superplex. Velvet and Angelina
then get under ODB and Gail Kim for the powerbomb which results in a
pyramid move that lays out Christy, ODB and Gail. Jacqueline tosses
Velvet and Angelina out of the ring then goes for the sheers but ODB
powerbombs her off the turnbuckle. Gail Kim runs up the turnbuckle
and grabs the sheers to win the match and WILL NOT be getting her
head shaved at Sacrifice.
Winner: Gail Kim
My Review: Nice match and I'm glad TNA ACTUALLY has a women's
division instead of future or past playmates like WWE! (Except For
Mickie James)
Backstage: Joe & Nash
Joe cuts a promo on Steiner and Angle, and how much the world title
means to him. Joe walks away and Nash says that it's going to take a
lot more than strength to beat Joe, it's going to take brains…. Is
anyone else sensing subtle hints that Nash is trying to take out Joe
and get the title for himself sometime down the line?
No DQ: James Storm vs. Sting
Sting immediately starts things off running down to James Storm at
ringside and tossing him over the guard rail into the crowd. Sting
beats Storm all through the crowd until Storm is able to climb up on
some sort of platform and dive off onto Sting. Sting finally regains
some control and throws James Storm through a wall in the Impact
Zone. Sting tosses Storm back to ringside where Storm tags a chug of
beer and sprays it in the eyes of Sting to get the upper hand. Storm
sets up a table in the corner of the ring and goes right back to work
on Sting. He goes to whip Sting into the table but Sting reverses and
clotheslines him. He goes to follow up with a splash off the top rope
but Storm moves. Storm misses a Superkick on Sting and hits the ref.
Sting locks on the Scorpion Death Lock, Jacqueline comes down with a
chair to hope out Cowboy. Storm hits an enzigiri then nails Sting
with the chair for a 2-count. Sting ducks a clothesline and hits the
Stinger Splash followed up by a splash off the top rope onto Storm
for a 2-count. Sting hits the Scorpion Death Drop but instead of
going for the pin he lays Storm across the table and hits the Stinger
Splash right through the table! He again doesn't go for the pin and
instead hits ANOTHER Scorpion Death Drop for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Sting
My Review: Great great match! Sting is my all time favorite legends
wrestler (not meaning to say he's old) and I'm glad he's in a good
feud with someone that is complimentary to him.
Backstage: JB and Kip James
Kip James runs down his accolades and says he will win tag team gold
once again. He says he made DX, not the redneck, not Waltman, not
the "I'm glad I still have a heart beat kid", not the "huge nosed,
water-spitting, piece of….."
My Review: Good promo but I'm just sick of WWE rejects whining! maybe
Bret Hart should sign with TNA, he's the biggest whiner in wrestling!
In The Ring: Cornette announces Dueces Wild team
Matt Morgan and Kip James will be partners at Sacrifice. Morgan tells
Kip to SUCK IT and a brawl breaks out. Cornette says "Let them
fight!" The bell rings and we're off.
Matt Morgan vs. Kip James
The bell rings and security clears the ring as Kip and Morgan duke it
out. Lots of big power moves in this short match. Morgan hits the
scissor kick for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Matt Morgan
My Review: (Um Hunny I'm going to get some Nachos and popcorn what
would you like?) yeah it was that lame!
Backstage: BG James speaks
He talks about his potential partners for Sacrifice. He says Booker T
has the dread locks, he used to rock them back in the day but they
don't look good on an old fat white guy. Robert Roode is rich and
good looking, he is broke and D-O-G-G ugly. He says Awesome Kong is
the only way he is going to look good.
Backstage: JB with Steiner & Angle
Scott has some heated words for Kurt Angle with Petey and Rhaka at
his side. Scott says TNA needs two pure-bred athletes going for the
TNA title, not some fat ass like Samoa Joe. They get into a shoving
match and Petey breaks them up. Petey says the reason they don't get
along is because they're too much alike. Petey says they only need 10
minutes to break Joe down for Sacrifice. He breaks out some Steiner
Arithmetic and says it might only take 66.66% of that time.
Scott Steiner & Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash
Joe finally got a new intro video. Nash and Kurt start off. Nash is
on the offensive early on and hits the Snake Eyes on Kurt followed up
by a clothesline for a 2-count. Joe gets the tag and goes to work on
Kurt in the corner. Big Kev gets tagged back in but Kurt hits the eye
rake and tags in Scott who gets caught by a big boot from Kev. The
ref is trying to restrain Kurt and Scott takes the opportunity to hit
a low-blow on Kev and knock Joe off the apron. Steiner goes right to
the knees of Kev to keep him down. Steiner lays him out with a big
clothesline and tags in Kurt who drops Kev with a back-suplex for a 2-
count. Joe finally gets the tag, but the ref doesn't see it. Joe runs
in and lays out Joe and Kurt anyway. He hits a big flying elbow on
Scott in the corner and drops Kurt with a big running powerslam.
Steiner catches Joe from behind with an elbow which allows Kurt to
grab him for the Olympic Slam. Kev then goes for a chokeslam on Kurt
but Steiner hits Kev with the lead pipe when the ref is busy with
Joe. Kurt hits the Olympic Slam and is getting ready for the ankle
lock, but Steiner slides in and steals the 1-2-3 on Kev before Kurt
can turn around.
Winners: Scott Steiner & Kurt Angle
After the match, Scott is posing on the turnbuckle and Kurt runs up
behind up and throws him down with the Olympic Slam. Kurt locks
Steiner in the ankle lock and he taps out in the middle of the ring
as Impact goes off the air.
My Review: I started to not watch this seeing as how Kurt bores me to
death and Scott doesn't help matters but yet Big Kevin Nash kept my
interest, sucks he had to job to an old man Ric Flair hater! oh and
he's also a whiner who lies! hello you were never world champ in WWE
thanks to HHH so get your facts before cutting a bogus promo! Hope
Joe wins he deserves to still be Champ course anyone does except for
Angle and Steiner.
Final Thoughts: Great Impact! TNA is really trying while WWE just
gets more lame each week! guess we know who cares about the fans more
now don't we? TNA is really doing good just need to push the main
event and X division scenes better. other than that they are great
and making a real difference in the wrestling business. I'll be back
next week for Raw until then have a great weekend!
