AAC Meeting
05-20-2003 - ladytkd

I have been asked again to remind all AAC members and those who lost
in the 2000 election, as well as current athletes to attend the AAC
meeting. There are many who want answers to a lot of questions,
starting with the legality of the AAC chair paying plane tickets and
hotel rooms for many of those who were elected for the first time in
2000. Seems that they were offered tickets to come if they would vote
for the AAC Chair. Those voting for George Weisfissch had to pay
their own way. With the USTU financials as messy as they are - no
one can say the USTU did not pay those tickets.

Reminder - in 2000, USTU only paid tickets and hotel rooms for AAC
Executive Committee and they still do not pay for anyone who is not
on the committee - which means those elected for the first time in
2000 were not current members. They were just those whose names were
on the list that was passed out telling delegates who to vote for and
in what order.

Members also want to discuss things like no AAC representation in the
choice of the Olympic and Pan Am Coach - which violates the Ted
Stevens Amateur Sports Act of 1978.

It was also brought to the attention of the USOC committee that AAC
reps to the committees were not truly elected and that the committee
is not represented on the Referee Committee or the Coach and Science
Committee. This violates the Ted Stevens Act as well as USTU bylaws
and frankly athlete rights.

Athletes also want to know about the various issues regarding the
conflicts of interest regarding the AAC Chair and the USTU President.

It also came out at the meeting that President Lee did indeed tell
the AAC Chair to get the vote changed last year at the mid-year
meeting - remember the illegally called meeting which saw 2 votes of
the AAC membership changed minutes before the actual meeting.

I heard something the other day which frankly I hope is not true, but
considering everything, I am sure probably is true. When the AAC
Chair was asked if he was applying for the position vacated by Han
Won Lee, he supposedly responded that President Lee wants him to
continue to CONTROL THE AAC. Think about it guys and then throw up.

Hey - what can he do - kick you out? Yes he can - just as he did
Former AAC Chair John Holloway at the November meeting. The
difference this year is that the AAC members he can't kick out will
know that the other athletes and the former AAC officers were not
allowed in to hear the business which affects them - that the people
who might have won spots at the 2000 election had all things been
equal - were once again denied answers.

But then when has the USTU ever cared about appearances or what the
athletes think?

Treasurer's Report
05-20-2003 - ladytkd

In November of 2000, the BOG voted that the treasurer's report would
be presented to the BOG 2 weeks prior to the meeting so that all
members could review it intelligently. Since that time, we have had
the report before the meeting once. This time is no exception.

I learned last night that we will have audited reports through
November of 2002 - it is only May of 2003 but who is counting. One
board member wants to know who is at fault here - the auditor who
does several other NGB's, or the USTU? And the good news is the CPA
who audits the books will be there to answer questions. Think we had
better extend the meeting.

Agenda & Minutes
05-20-2003 - ladytkd

I finally got my agenda and minutes of the last meeting. Only late,
late, late and in violation of the bylaws. As you know Jeanna had 2
deaths in her family and finished the minutes with only 1/2 a day for
Secretary General Soon Ho Kim to review them. It then took him about
6 weeks to review them - and when he did, he decided they were too
detailed and wanted a shorter version.

The longer version will available at the meeting. All I can say is
expect that the minutes will not be accepted as no one has read the
long version and the short version cuts too much out.

Shall we mention the treasurer's report? Didn't get it - won't - and
it won't be audited.

Know what was missing from all this? Between the 30 day deadline for
agenda items to go to the BOG and today - the Referee Code of
Operations, mandated by the BOG to be presented with Referee
Selection Criterion - viola! poof! gone! seems this was pulled by
the Referee Chair - probably after someone told him what was on this
page about how you cannot amend a code that doesn't exist, as well as
the Referee Dues and appointment of the AAC reps..... BUT - never
fear - if he doesn't have one - the Director of the Division of
Education has one all ready - and he has a referee selection
criterion already approved by upper IR's - the same ones who have
been crapped on all these years.
