The files are written in Microsoft Works Word Processor. However
almost all of the same information is also posted in the files section
under the individual tournaments on 4/29, 5/20, 5/26, 6/2, & 6/30.
There is also a series flyer in the files section. These flyers are
not in a folder.
Hi,
What format are the files saved as for the AAU series? My computer
doesn't know what application opens a WPS file, and I've never heard
of that. Can someone save them as Word or Adobe and send them to me?
Regards.
All the final details have been put together for the 2007 AAU
Illinois Folk Style Challenge. In the files section of the group is
a folder tiotled 2007 AAU Illinois Folk Style Challenge. In the
folder are all the individual flyers for each tournament in the
series and two flyers regarding the entire series. If you attended
the series in 2006 you probably got a flyer in the mail. Unless of
course your writing was illedgible which is always the case with a
few wrestlers. Please print clearly on the weigh in cards. Also in
the folder is an application to use for the AAU card on the day of
the tournament if you want to fill it out in advance and bring it
with you. There will be card applications available at the door.
There are also weigh in cards posted in the AAU folder for each age
group. This is done for your convienience so you can fill them out
in advance and get parent signatures prior to the tournament. There
will also be color co ordinated cards available on the day of the
tournament. The first 4 tournaments are $15 entry fee each and the
Last Chyance is $20 because of the walnut 1st place plaque. The date
for the Illinois Open and Men's State has been set at 6/2/07. The
Last Chance is 6/30/07 The flyers posted in the group are accurate.
Those dates can be trusted. If there is any question you can call me
at The World's Oldest Sport (847)870-7829. Remember the first
tournament is this Sunday 4/29/07 at Wauconda High School. The
tournaments are open to any wrestle who so chooses to compete,
regardless of what state you may live in. Even the Illinois Open and
Illinois Men's State tournament are open to wrestlers from any
state. An AAU card is required as you know and may be purchased at
the door $12 for wrestlers up to and including age 18. $22 for
wrestler age 19 and up. I will be at the head table for each
tournament co-ordinating the operation of the tournament. I
personally will set each brakcet. They are done strictly according
to weight and without bias. They are all a blind draw. The cards are
turned upside down when the brackets are set and the weight only is
on the back. I have no idea who is in any bracket. If you want to
seperate individuals because they are team mates or brothers you
should mark so on the back of the weigh in card and make a note to
move one of them up a weight class. Call me with questions but only
if neccesary. Good Luck and God Speed. Let's have a great series. I
will see all the competitors on Sunday 4/29/07

Why aren't there any flyers for these tournaments anywhere? My little
brother is planning on doing these and I take him to these tournaments,
not my parents. I can't sign the form for him to do these only my
parents can and they will not drive him. Is there anyway to get these
posted somewhere? Thank you.
Regarding the AAU Folkstyle Challenge. Four of the five tournaments
have been posted. We are waiting to complete the details once we know
what the date for the last tournament will be. The tournaments are as
follows:
Bulldogs Coliseum 4-29-07 Waconda HS
Knights Open 5-20-07 Prospect HS Mt Prospect IL
Prairieville Open 5-26-07 Buffalo Grove HS
Illinois Open & Men's State Antioch HS
Mustangs Last Chance 6-30-07 Rolling Meadows HS
I hope to finalize the last date and all the details in the next week.
Information will be forthcoming as soon as it has been written up. The
series will be run similar to last year, with some changes.

If memory serves correct, I believe that the PORTA Bluejay Tourney is this weekend. It has an adult bracket.

I have been asked by more than a few people if we were going to host
the series of 5 tournaments that we have done in the past. All of the
coaches have been interested in doing this series again. So I have
agreed to move forward and do it. The fiorst tournament will be at
Wauconda High School on 4/29/07, The last tournament will be at
Rolling Meadows High School on 6/30/07. The other 3 tournaments will
fall inbetween. We will set the dates for those in the next week or
so. The format will run similar to previous years. There may be some
changes. Once the flyers are put together, I will post them. All the
tournaments will be AAU sanctions. Cards may be purchased at the door.
As soon as I have more information I will let you know. We have at
least 5 weeks before the first tournament so it sohould be no problem.
Aslo you may post any flyers for any tournament sthat you come across.
Just post them in the files section of the group.
Thank you for your patience

Thank you for your patience. I have posted six tournaments that are
coming up in the file section of this group. I will post a schedule
as soon as I can. Probably in the next few days. i have been
repeatly asked if we are going to run the 5 AAU tournaments this
year. I have talked to four of the coaches and they would like to do
it. So it seems likely that something will go off. I'm not sure when
the first tournament will be probably at the end of April. Some
details need to be worked out in the next week. The first tournament
posted is in Sterling tomorrow Sunday 3-11-07. All wrestlers
interested may participate from little kids 4 or 5 years old up
through adults. I have been at this tournament many years. Don
Meekel does a good job running it. If you are interested look at the
flyer and just show up. They will not turn anyone away. I will send
forth new information as soon as I can put it together. It is
unlikely The World's Oldest Sport will be selling equipment at any
off season tournaments this year. I am trying to make the business
more functional and tournament tend to leave everything in the
warehouse and showroom a mess. If you are interested in getting a
singlet or anything else you can call me at (847)870-7829 or visit
the web site at www.worldsoldestsport.com
Thank you for you patience and tolerence. Sorry I jammed your email
box with so many notices.

I was having trouble locating info for the Dean's Classic (Harvard) tourney. I finally made a couple of calls and located it:) Unfortunately, same weekend as Midget State:( Here is the webpage that links to the info...
I'ts exciting that the offseason tournaments are about to start!
Just a suggestion, maybe we should have last years files in a separate
folder than this years just to avoid confusion.
