Warm up using basic Karate kicking, at least 100 kicks in four
directions at imaginary partners. Then do basic karate kata.
Punching drills.
Then as you start to sweat. Now start your Serrada class.
Keep it always rugged. Do not do a COLD class.
A warm class where everyone is sweating and feeling healthy
is very necessary in order to establish a martial arts
training. Because fighting requires body movement, mental
determination, and
struggle, and is not won by knowing technicals alone.
I am the first guro who instilled this concept in
Eskrima training. Begin like hard karate. Then half and hour
later, turn it into Serrada, and later into whip.
