Re: Uprooting Stance:

against thrusting strikes like jabs and straights keep to the outside
and utilize a trapping/jerking... you must do this beyond his reach
so that he is resorting to straight line strikes even getting him to
over-extend himself just from the distancing.

utilizing the trapping/jerking pulls him forward into a STUMBLE
STEP... as you accomplish this type of offsetting you must also step
past him on the outside... striking to his exposed head/neck or
under the trap to his underside. it is like a "clothes-line"
technique of classic origin. but must be done with a
trapping/jerking style to have complete control.

as you master this you will be able step past his stumble and strike
his exposed back/head/neck meaning you are able to move him
further/faster forward and at the same time rush past him in your own
stepping... immediately striking him from behind as you pass-by.

...

the other variation is a close-in offsetting which is done following
a passing maneuver... slamming into him with your shoulder/hip as
you step in close behind the pass. this would require advanced
footwork for the pass... against #3 as example... then rush in left-
foot forward at an angle which is safe to do so. at some angles and
footworks you cannot as easily use this method.

both methods should be experimented with. in the situation where one
is not feasible likely the other is... and vice versa.

the trap/jerk works very well against someone who chooses to cover
lots of ground when fighting... the shoulder/hip checking works
against someone who goes into a "turtle" and refuses to move.

both require an opportunity to do it... you may or may not be able to
create the opportunity... but sometimes you just find yourself in
that place where it happens to be the smartest thing to do.

kicking and using your head as an extra-limb for certain situations
also has tremendous value. you can snake with the head... you can
check with the head... you can strike with the head. just don't make
it your first line of defense... =D
