Re: [world_cricket] Congrats Sachin

Indeed its a great day for a great cricketer..i dont think anyone disputes the fact that he has been the most loved batsman of this generation not just in India but in the world. There might be disputes in various parts regarding who is better between him & Lara, but honestly i think Sachin has reserved a special place for himself in history of cricket. So happy for him..lets hope we continue to see his magic for some more years.

Hi Ho All,

A hearty congrats to Sachin Tendulka for so many wonderful memories and yet another deserved record.

I am wondering why so much of the ground is empty however. I remember the constant deafening roar
of the last two tours. Where is everyone?

As for the death of Test cricket ... well you may be right folks. Oh well, as George Harrison points out, all things must pass. And even if it does, it won't take from us the likes of The Don, Sachin, and whoever else you care to mention.

Test cricket brought Jack Hobbs (3 times), Herb Sutcliffe (twice), the Bodyline team and a whole bunch more to what is now a vacant lot in my humble little country town, way back when, as they travelled on a train from Brisbane to Sydney between Tests. 20/20 can't take from me, no matter how much money it has, the feeling I get when I visit that vacant lot and listen to the wind.

Enough philosophy.

Cheers
Christopher
