Re: [world_cricket] The Cricket World

Hi Ho All,

Well I think it is clearly the easiest side in a long while. Then again, taking on 5 cobras is easier than taking on 8, if you get my meaning. But taking on 5 cobras isn't easy. Current form, teams, home gorund advantage all add up to Indian favouritism. Assuming the Indians will stand up and be counted, then yes, it should make for a great series. It is strange there are only 4 instead of 5 tests. I hope we don't find ourselves wanting that fifth one to break a deadlock.
The biggest difference I see is the spinning attack. If Aust' pace can break through early on then all's well. But if the Indians can get settled, we don't have any workhorses to knock them over. They should still roll India for under 500, but that means 800-900 runs Australia has to find to win. Whereas I can see Aust' getting rolled for under 300 if India can get rid of Hayden, Ponting, Hussey and Clarke (big task, but easy enough on current form it would seem). Not only are those four the bulk of run scorers, we aren't rich with a strong tail anymore, able to hang around in support of another 150-200 runs. Once India gets into the Aussie tail, they should clean them up for 50 tops every time.

And yes, a hearty cheer will go up from my spot on the planet when Tendulka rightfully takes the lead. I much prefered his style and manners, on and off the field, to Lara.

Cheers
Christopher

I think people are underestimating the aussies, once the tests begin they`ll definetly rise a level. I wont ever count my chickens and think that this is the easiest aussie side we have faced in the last decade. They wont be easy to beat and it would take a lot of consistent good cricket from India to beat them. The pitches in Bangalore & Mohali should provide enough assistance to the seamers which will only help their case.

I think every india australia series has been a classic in the last decade with the exception of 99-00 when australia wiped india 3-0. I expect this one to have another 2-1 result either way. On paper India looks slightly ahead definetly at this moment especially in the spin department but it would be very immature to underrate the aussie ability of proving everyone wrong. Same thing was expected in WC 2007 & we know what happened. I hope to see 4 great tests. India`s seniors would love to bag another series win against australia before the end of their careers. At some point we will see SRT overtaking Lara. Just can`t wait for that!

Symonds will be hardly missed in India for the fans so thats stating the obvious :-)

Sad thing is, this series has largely been crap and devoid of good cricket. Much of it's been played on flat boring tracks that give the batsmans dreams and...
