Re: [world_cricket] The Cricket World

I think people are underestimating the aussies, once the tests begin they`ll definetly rise a level. I wont ever count my chickens and think that this is the easiest aussie side we have faced in the last decade. They wont be easy to beat and it would take a lot of consistent good cricket from India to beat them. The pitches in Bangalore & Mohali should provide enough assistance to the seamers which will only help their case.

I think every india australia series has been a classic in the last decade with the exception of 99-00 when australia wiped india 3-0. I expect this one to have another 2-1 result either way. On paper India looks slightly ahead definetly at this moment especially in the spin department but it would be very immature to underrate the aussie ability of proving everyone wrong. Same thing was expected in WC 2007 & we know what happened. I hope to see 4 great tests. India`s seniors would love to bag another series win against australia before the end of their careers. At some point we will see SRT overtaking Lara. Just can`t wait for that!

Symonds will be hardly missed in India for the fans so thats stating the obvious :-)

2008/10/3 Old Father Time <oldfathertime@...>

Hi Ho All,

Well what a few weeks it has been.

So much has slipped my mind but a few things stick out.

Shane Warne is doing his best to portray himself as a complete knob ...

Andrew Symonds, working hard to become a complete knob decides a spot of fishing is on the cards instead of  going to a meeting.  I have no real problem with this, but evidently CA does, as do the rest of the Australian team. I suspect there is a bit more to "going fishing" than meets the eye. Anyway, Shane "tattoo knob on my head"  Warne decides that what Symmonds has done is show a complete disrespect to Australia and his team mates.  A convicted drug cheat and bookie's money taker says going fishing is bad. If I was up for swearing, this is where I'd say "F*** Me Warney, pull you're head in, you knob!".

Some days it's hard to understand how we can accept in life the antics of winners, no matter how bad they are.

I was actually wondering if the whole fishing saga was merely an excuse to stop Symmonds going to India. After the last two series between them, it seems Symmonds is the centre of far too much negative press. So be it instigated by Australia, India or both, I wouldn't be surprised that folks higher up than the Australian team decided that it would be best if he just didn't go. When you think about it, for missing a team meeting he has been suspended for four tests and a hand full of one day games. Pretty damn severe if you ask me.

On the good news front we have the Australian tour of India to look forward to.  The last couple of tours have been two of my favourites, level at one a piece. Cracking battles over many games with too many highlights to name. They have been somewhat dulled by India's tours here, again moreso the media and all that crap than the actual cricket.

This time round I see India as favourites by a mile. Not only do India have the team to do the damage, but Australia clearly doesn't. On the face of it, they have the batsmen to save a test or two, but they don't have the bowlers to win it. Even the President's XI is playing merry hell with them. I have next to no knowledge of ground conditions from ground to ground, but I would have thought the current score line doesn't bode well. Whatever the case, I'm certainly keen for next thrusday and the many little battles that the last few series have produced being repeated.

Cheers
Christopher

Sad thing is, this series has largely been crap and devoid of good cricket. Much of it's been played on flat boring tracks that give the batsmans dreams and...
