You can say we played for a result where there was no chance of losing this test and yet if we won it would have been a bonus..i think most of the guys know it was their last chance of a series win on english soil and if they had let this one go,not only their careers would be at stake but they`ll regret forever on why they didn`t play safe when they could..the pitch was flat and if england had set us 125-130 on the last day u never know what can happen in cricket when teams bat last under pressure. They took the right decision especially since zaheer was half fit before the start of play on day 4.So bowling again was a very risky option in those circumstance.
India clearly played the better cricket from both sides and dominated the last two tests by a mile..deserving winners and really happy to see them celebrating a very memorable win in our test history on the eve of our 60th independence day as a coincidence!
Sachin wasn`t sure whether this was his final test appearence in england but to be honest its very very unlikely england will see him again as a test player..atleast he now has the satisfaction of winning in england!
Yes england were hit by injuries but i think the replacements bowled as well as the injured guys would have done...becoming the first side to win in england since 2001 is not a small thing and has to be appreciated.

thoughts riff? did india simply play for the draw from the start? they clearly dominated but i thought they may have played for the draw from the outset, i only followed the game over the internet though.

meh pedant! :pBut yes if you don't win then your guys are gonna take some stick for it... but you've got to bowl us out to get the best of this test. England have nothing to lose-----Original Message-----

England have been set an impossible target of 499 to win on the 5th day, and are some 51 without loss. If they did that it would be the highest total to win in the 4th innings by a mile and a half. If they don't and India win or draw it will only be the 5th time they've won a series in England. There's been some excellent cricket too, regardless of jellybeans, between the two sides vying for 2nd place in the world Test rankings. It's been great to follow - shame it's only a three test series and not 4.Oh and do check out the home of good music at www.radiolympus.com (shameless plug I know but hey, I'm justifiably proud :)Riff
