Sadly, in my short few years as an umpire (and I met many umpires at all
levels including former and current Test umpires, all Australian) there were
two camps regarding his action. One group believed that practically every
ball he bowled was illegal and that he should be banished from the game and
take his records with him. The other group consisted of me.

I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately I cringe in preparation for the booing
he will get this summer every time he walks on the field, even to bat.
Likewise, the endless reams of paper wasted on articles about his action. Oh
well.

I'm just desperately hanging out for some cricket, any sort of cricket.
Winter is a very long time indeed in my part of the world; I don't even have
the pleasure of football (the proper sort where you use only your feet!) as
we play our season to match the European season, which also matches our
cricket season.
