Hi Ladies,

As many of you might have none, the See Jane Tri was benefiting the Breast Cancer Fund.  Well, when I pulled out the Action Card from my bag and read what you will soon read - I was thrilled at what I saw.

In my personal research and education over the past several years, I was finding that many natropath doctors and the like have been saying that our living enivornment with all its harmful chemicals is killing us.  Well, now the rest of the world seems to be catching on that chemicals are not good for our human bodies.  Please, if you don't read anything else from me - please take time to read the short handout in the "Breast Cancaer Fund Information" under the first level in the FILE section.  You don't have to make all the changes at once, but you can start making changes one-by-one.

Further more, don't be afraid to share this information with everyone you know.  You are not bothering them - but could be helping to save their lives.

If you wish to donate to the Breat Cancer Fund, please see the following link for the many ways you can help:
http://www.breastcancerfund.org/site/pp.asp?c=kwKXLdPaE&b=44853
Also, the clubs that I work for always support this cause all month long and I would be happy to share the events with you if you are interested.  Or check out www.decathlon-club.com or www.courtsideclub.com.  Donations made thru these two clubs are matched by our parent company Western Athletic Clubs.

Wed Class
It looks like it is supposed to be our first rainy day :-(...so let's meet at my house for some toning and core.  Bring your bands and balls if you have them.  1375 Nilda Ave...just two blocks down from Cuesta Park on the right hand side.  Call if you get lost 510.816.7467.

Blessings,

Holli

Hi Ladies,

I would like to get a quick RSVP for the upcoming events just so I can plan accordingly.  But before that, I wanted to let you know about another couple of events I would love to invite you all to.  Before I go further, as many of you know, I am a Christian - or in other terms - have a personal living relationship with my man Jesus.   While I do not intend for Workouts 4 Moms! to be a "Christian" business, it is one of my goals to help women in their spiritual lives since they (our spiritual lives) are intricately connected to our physical lives.  That being said - I will from time to time offer up events to attend or links to explore that share more about being a mom in today's world from a Christian point of view.  A lot of the events are great resources - even if you are not a Christian - for learning tools about how to be a mom, wife, friend, etc. that I know as women - we can never be fed enough in this area.   Also, ! please! know that I am always here to talk with or to if you have questions, debates or the like about God, Jesus, the church, etc.

Women of Worth - Sat. 10/7 from 10am -12 pm.  This is at my church Abundant Life Christian Fellowshiop in Mtn. View.    Proverbs 31:10 says that "a woman of noble character is worth far more than rubies." Come enjoy a time of fun and fellowship with other women of like precious faith. Special guest speaker is Normajean Hinders, a licensed marriage and family therapist and author of the best selling book, Seasons of a Woman's Life. There is usually a hang out and talk time followed by the talk.

The Harvest Crusade with evangelist Pastor Greg Laurie is coming to the HP Pavilion 10/13-10/15.  This is a free event! Read on.  I will send a seperate email with more info about this.  I will most likely attend one of the 3 nights, so if you want to join me - let me know and we can match up.  Oh, and for a little fun - there is a band playing on Friday night that yours truly has been in (can't say stared unfortunately) one of their videos.  It was filmed at the old Polyesters in SF back in 2000, the lead singer has a bald head.  Can you guess which band? http://www.harvest.org/crusades/2006/sanjose/index.php/58.html

Okay, so now for the RSVP count.  Please respond if you plan on attending:

1) This saturday's W4M! Celebration brunch at Hobbee's in Mtn. View- now at 8:30 am so those of us that want to go to Women of Worth can.

2) Women of Worth 10/7 from 10am -12pm at Abundant Life in Mtn. View

3) The informational party at Sports Basement on Oct 11.  You don't have to stay the whole time!

4) Attending the Turkey Trot training (please let me know if your spouse will be joining as well).

That's it in this email!

Hi Holli,

Here are my RSVP responses:

1) This saturday's W4M! Celebration brunch at Hobbee's in Mtn. View- now at 8:30 am so those of us that want to go to Women of Worth can. -- Sorry, I don't think I can make this! For various reasons I can't leave Eve with Brian that morning.

2) Women of Worth 10/7 from 10am -12pm at Abundant Life in Mtn. View -- Not coming, but I appreciate the invite!

3) The informational party at Sports Basement on Oct 11.  You don't have to stay the whole time! -- I'm going to try very hard to attend this, so count me as a yes!

4) Attending the Turkey Trot training (please let me know if your spouse will be joining as well). -- This is a no-go for me.  I gave it some thought and decided that I have enough irons in the fire right now already.

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to send out a notice about our first successful training
event - the See Jane Tri! Janissa & Marin, who both started training
with me 8 weeks ago - both finished the race with their heads held high
- all limbs attached. Even after a rather challenging start in the
water - both ladies went ahead and pushed thru the bike and run in order
to cross the finish line in personal best times! (Okay, so this was
their first triathlon - but still it is a PBT!)

For all of you that have wondered if you could ever reach an
accomplishment such as this - I encourage you to come on Saturday to
talk to the ladies first hand. If you can't make it on Saturday but
want to talk to them -I am sure they are more than happy to chat via
email. In fact - Janissa & Marin - will you both please write a personal
testimony for the rest of us about: what made you decide to take on this
challenge, how you felt throughout the training and event, as well as
your feeling after the event!

Again, congratulations ladies - I am so proud of you - just like a proud
Mama Coach!!

Come in person or watch the webcast! Experience for yourself why over three million people have attended a Harvest event to hear Greg Laurie give a life-changing message from God's Word.

During the three nights, Greg Laurie will address the big questions in life like:

  • What is the meaning of life?
  • Why am I here?
  • Is God real?
  • What happens when I die?

Everyone thinks about these things at some point, but we seldom slow down to consider them carefully. You'll find the answers to these important questions and more at Harvest 06 on anyone of these three exciting nights:

  • Friday, October 13 at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, October 14 at 12:00 PM: Spanish Matinee
  • Saturday, October 14: Amplify Youth Night at 7:00 PM
  • Sunday, October 15 at 6:00 PM

Each night will feature great Christian music by newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Salvador, Todd Agnew, Chris Rice, Seventh Day Slumber, Kutless, Crystal Lewis, and The Harvest Crusade Band. Doors open an hour and a half early, and all seats are free so be sure to get there early!

Hi Ladies,

Well, I guess that fall has officially arrived! I actually just
turned on my heater since my hands were becoming rather icy! Please
make sure you bring extra layers for the lil' ones. I have started
to contact places to see where we can go if it is raining..but I
would like to continue to hold classes outside as much as I can -
especially since we are in the afternoons. Make sure to check the
calendar before class if you have any questions!

Squirrel problems in Cuesta Park:
Please read the following about an unfortunate event. CHannel five
was there on Wednesday. Please refrain from bringing food/snacks
that would possibly attract the squirrels. Milk and drinks of
course would be fine. I will still try to bring muffins but will
ask you wait until you leave the park to eat them.

See Jane Tri:
Is tomorrow, Sat 9/30. If you want - come chear Janissa, Marin and
myself on. Our wave starts at 8:04 am and we sould be crossing the
finish line within 1 hr 15 mins to 1 hr 45 mins. We will be wearing
jersies with "Workouts 4 Moms!" on them and our husbands and kids
will be waiting for us at the finish line. We would love other
support if you have no other plans! Parking is $6 and I would dress
warm...high is 76 and partly cloudy. Here is a link for directions:
http://www.seejanetri.com/logistics.shtml#maps

Janissa/Marin - I would definitely bring your warmer gear,
especially for the bike!

I am finishing up the nutrition article: The Truth about Cholesterol
part II and will have that out to you in just a little while.

Blessings,
Holli

Grab your babies, kids, friends, neighbors  - oh yeah and those husbands and join me at my first informational SOCIAL at Sports Basement - Wednesday, Oct 11 from 6-8 pm.

I will be sharing information on our upcoming Turkey Trot, our mommy and me classes and more...PLUS you will recieve a 20% discount on ALL your purchases at Sports Basement this night only.  Sports Basement has been gracious enough to not only extend this, but also will be hosting appetizers and beverages for us.  Please come and join us for this event if you are:

* Are even the tiniest bit interested in the Turkey Trot 5k/10k walk or run. (That's right, you don't need to be a runner for this.  I mean for this to be truly a family event, so training will be at times dad and babies/kids can join.)

* Want to know about the Mommy & Me Bootcamp class - I will be giving demos of the exercises we do in class.  Also, I am opening up these classes to all moms - not just those with babies!  Learn more this night.

Again, if nothing more please come support Sports Basement and their generous offer in supporting our group.  Visit Sports Basement at to see what they carry http://www.sportsbasement.com/

Hi Ladies,

I'm soo sorry it has taken me so long to get something new out to
you. With starting to teach more and with Valor not taking his long
naps right now...my time has been disapearing! As I know you all
can sympathize!

But this is the first part in a few week series on the Myth of
Cholesterol and Saturated Fats. Here is a quick blurb:

The following information will most likely shock you and catch you
off guard. While I don't mean for it to be a full research into the
question cholesterol plays into our health – I mean for it to spark
conversation and discussion. I hope this will provoke us to ask
more questions, tough questions of our doctors and research
companies to ensure they are taking into account the full,
complicated work of art our bodies are – and not just trying to
control one area at the risk of damaging multiple others. In my
research of these and other issues regarding my own health, I have
found that I need to be my own best "doctor", that no one person can
have all the answers to my medical questions and that there is so
much more information out there to help you reach your optimal
health – total body health. It might take time to sift through all
the information – but in the end when your whole body is healthy it
is worth the time and cost.

The first couple parts of this, I will be sharing an excerpt from
Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically
Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats by Sally Fallon that gives
us a background on what are fats and how they got such a bad rap.
(I will take the liberty to summarize where needed in order to save
all of us time 0 especially for me typing all this!) Following
that, I will provide some excerpts from other articles and books I
found. And by no means will this be a conclusive list of all the
information out there! I merely don't have the time I wish I had to
fully type everything up for you all!

Reminders:
No class this Friday, Sept 22nd.

Assesment day - next Friday, Sept 29th

Turkey trot training starts 14th!!

Hi Cheree

Yes, I remember you. Viktoria has been able to join us but she said
she hadn't heard from you in a while. I am glad to know you are
still planning on coming - and thank you so much for letting me
know. I really enjoyed talking with you!

Also, would it be alright if I gave you some brochures to put at
your studios? If not, I totally understand - but I just wanted to
double check. Maybe we could even team up some how to help cross
promote one another! I also would love to talk to you a little bit
more about your businesses...my husband and I are always looking out
for good business ideas!

Blessings,
Holli

Hi Holli,

I wouldn't mind meeting at another park as long as it isn't farther south
(Campbell would be too far for us). If you want to come North, we'd love to
come.

I'm not sure about the Turkey Trot Training. I'm feeling like our plate is full
right now, but I'll learn more about it from you at class and we'll consider it.

See you this afternoon,
Erin : )

Hi Ladies,

I do apologize for not getting the weekly nutrition article out yet...Val boy has been keeping me busy, along with starting to teach more classes at my old club again.  I do plan on getting this out next week - and the topic is The Myth About Cholestrol.  Remember, all the past nutrition articles are at this link:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/mandmbootcamp/files/Nutritional%20Handouts/

And if you are looking for baby food recipes, check out this file:
ALTERNATIVES TO FEEDING YOUR BABY.doc

I did want to let you know about a couple of items:

* Where was every one last Sunday for our Mommy, Daddy & Me class?  :-(  I was thinking of hosting another one tomorrow, but obviously got around to telling you all too late.  Next Month!

* Classes this week:
Monday & Wednesday (I will be at a wedding in Big Sur on Friday!)

* Changing Parks An idea came up this week about changing parks once.  I.E. - going to Campbell or elsewhere a couple of times a month.  Please, Please let me know what you think about this and what parks you would like to meet at.

* Again, if any of you can't make the time 4-5 in the afternoons, you are more than welcome to join me M/W at Courtside club from 10:30-11:30.  I don't have the control of the cost at this one - but there are many more perks being that it is a BEAUTIFUL club with a SPA!!!

* Classes this fall/winter:  I haven't really decided what to do with these.  I would like to keep doing them outside as long as it is not raining and not too windy.  Otherwise, I am just not sure if a mall would work out...but I will look into other options as well.

TURKEY TROT
I hope to have a callout/informational meeting at Sports Basement for this at the beginning of Oct.  The training starts Saturday, Oct 14th and is for the whole family (mom, dad and babies).  We will meet in parks/trails around the area and concentrate on just an hour or so workouts.  I am potentially going to add Thursday workouts as well - but am hoping to just encourage those that are participating to meet up with each other for those workouts.  Stay tuned for more info!  Please let me know if you are planning on participating!

SPORTS BASEMENT
Sports Basement has extended all members (whether you attend classes/training or not) a 10% discount at their store just off Lawerence Expressway in Sunnyvale.  This is an awesome store full of items all of us moms need (including jogging strollers).  I will be teaming up with them at least a couple times a year to host "Cocktail Parties" where you can come find out more about the M&M classes and the current training group.  On these nights only, they offer a 20% discount on everything.  To redeem your discount, simply tell them you are Workouts 4 Moms! member.

WORKOUTS 4 MOMS! CELEBRATION BRUNCH
Don't forget to join us Saturday, Oct 7th for this first ever event.  We are meeting at Hobbee's in Mtn. View at Regnstorff and Central Expressway.  No babies (if you can get a care provider)- just moms!

I think that is it for now.  Please get back to me about the park idea and whether or not you plan on attending the Turkey Trot training.

Blessings,

Holli

Hi to all you fit mamas!

I have a few things to share with you, so I will get right into it:

Next Week:
M&M Boot Camp classes: Monday & Wednesday (assesment day!) from 4-5 pm.  No class on Friday due to the holiday weekend.
Tri Training: Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30 pm - 8pm.  Check calander for location.

Assesments for Aug
Next Wed the 3oth!

Mom's Breakfast Out
Join us at Hobbee's in Mtn. View on Sat, Oct 7th at 9 am.  We will be celebrating an awesome start to M&M Boot Camp and those of us that completed the Triathlon.  This is a JUST MOM event...leave babies at home with dad.

Santa Cruz Turkey Trot Training
There is a fun walk/run in Santa Cruz the weekend before Thanksgiving.  I have wanted to do this for a couple of years and this is the year!  We will be training for this as a group on Saturday mornings starting in Oct for 6 weeks.  You have your choice of walking or running either a 5k (3.1 miles) or a 10k (6.2 miles).  Babies are more than welcome to join us, as are dads.  There will be a nominal $60 per person training fee which includes coaching/instruction via email and the 6 weeks of training.  Deatials to sign up for the actual race to follow.  Please email me if you have questions or to sign up.

Mommy, Daddy & Me Boot Camp special
Let's try to make these a monthly event on the 2nd Sunday of every month.  A great way to end the weekend and kick off the week.  4-5pm.  Daddies are free their first class or the normal $5 rate.

Halloween Party
A few of us have talked about having a little party for our lil' ones in their costumes at Cuesta.  I have a time down for 4-6 pm on the 31st which is a Tuesday.

New Home Page & New Postings
I have changed up the home page, as you might have noticed.  I will try to keep the current schedule up there, but be sure to peruse the calendar as well for other classes and training events.  I have a new posting that will go out to welcome new members and tell them more about us and my background.  You can look at this posting under Files > Dear new member.doc.

You probably already saw that there was a new nutritional handout posted.  This will kick off my series about eating for a healthy gut and how to cut right through the confusion of all the conflicting dietary approaches in the media today.  I am sure a lot of this info will be revolutionary and contradic what you have heard/learned in the past years.  Please don't hesitate to start a conversation about this information on this group page.  We can all benefit from discussion and debate.  I can't promise I will know the answers to all your questions, but I am continually reading and educating myself and love to share the wealth.

Courtside Stroller Class
For those of you not able to make my Cuesta Park class, I will be starting to teach M/W from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Courtside Club (www.courtsideclub.com) in Los Gatos.  Classes start Wed, Sept 6th.  I don't have control over the prices at this club, and it will be substantially more than my own class.  However, Courtside is a beautiful club with 2 pools, the best fitness floor I have ever seen, a wonderful and dedicated child care, amazing ammenities and so much more you would get to take advantage of with the class.  My director has promised she will help workout a great deal for any of my group members that want to join this class.  So, I just thought I would put this out there.  Please let me know if you are interested.

Healthy living & eating seminar
Just thought I would put this one out there as well.  Not sure on a date, but thinking sometime after the first of the year.  I would be looking at teaching you as much as I know in a few hours about native nutrition (www.radiantlifecatalog.com, www.themakersdiet.com, www.gardenoflife.com to name a few resources), provide you with tips to make your time in the kitchen easier and more effecient, answer your questions and more.  I am not a certified nutritionist, as you know, but have a passion for healing my body with nutrient dense food - a more traditional medicine!  More information to follow.

Hi again ladies,

In order to have a pulse on what you all are thinking, feeling about
the class - can you all give me some feedback please? You can email
them directly to me at hdare_cm@....

Here are some questions to jumpstart you:
What do you like most about the classes?
What would you change about the classes?
Are they too intense/not enough or just right?
Schedule of the classes?
Instruction: need more/less/just right?
Nutritional info: do you like receiving these in paper format or
should I just send a message when they are posted?
Any other liks or constructive criticism please!

Blessings,
Holli
