Hi Ladies,

I know it has been a while but I wanted to touch base for those that might want to know what is going on and to pass on some good information you might want to know about.

TRIATHLON TRAINING GROUP
I have updated my home page to reflect our current Moms' tri training group and how it has evolved.  I have decided not to return to stroller classes for right now...as I think a lot of you are past these any how!  We are currently training on Wed evenings and Saturday mornings.  I am more than happy to help you pick a triathlon or you can join us for the TRI GIRL TRI at the beginning of Oct.  We are looking to make this an all women's weekend get-a-way, renting a house up in Napa and celebrating our freedom - if only for a couple of days :-).

You can also just join us for training even if you never intend to do a triathlon.  It is a fun way to get and stay in shape.

I have had some ladies say they are interested in relays for the triathlons...so if you are interested in this, please let me know.

SPAM
I want to apologize for the spam that came thru a month or so ago.  I unfortunately can't catch spam email addresses when some one new joins.  I will try to send out a note if another one comes through, but this person had no permission to do this and I do not endorse what they were offering.

USED STUFF
I know I have tons of stuff in my garage and in my house that I am planning to get rid of.  I was going to do a garage sale and donate the profits...but then got tired thinking of all the work.  So I have decided to donate my goods and thougth you all might want to know of some places you could do the same:

Business Clothes
Career Closet would love to have your unwanted work clothes! You can
drop them off at Tailor Maid at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo
Alto
and get a receipt for tax purposes. Be sure the clothes are on
hangers, and clean and in wearable condition--Career Closet doesn't
have the staff or money to repair clothing.

Career Closet is a nonprofit that helps economically disadvantaged
women get ready for the workforce. It is a great organization with
offices in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. You can read more
about Career Closet at http://www.careercl oset.org.

Please feel free to write in with other places to donate!

HEALTH ISSUES
As most of you know that have met me, I am hugely into supporting not only your physical activities...but in the whole picture.  Below are some suggestions and issues that are near and dear to my heart!

Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) - South Bay Chapter http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPF-SouthBay
Below, I have included a blurb about the foundation.  As a chapter, we are growing and supporting each other through a Yahoo! group.  We meet for monthly potlucks, cooking events, lectures and other events.  We are also involved in trying to fight for alternative health practices as well as supporting local farmers who are kind to their soil and livestock…and thus to our bodies!  I would love for all of you to join our chapter (there are no dues) to learn more about truly healthy eating (all along the line of what I have shared with you).  I would love to field any of your questions!

THE WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION (WAPF) www.westonaprice.org  is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated nonindustrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price's research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats. The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective.

Klean Kanteen
As I am sure many of you have heard, the plastics we use for drinking (water bottles, cups, etc.) and the sippy cups is questionable as to the effect on your health.  If you are interested in switching to something healthier and more envirofriendly - try this brand.  You can order them for a good discount at www.reusablebags.com and searc for "Klean Kanteen".

Global Warming
Hmm, where do I even begin...first let me say I am not getting political or wanting to discredit any one's feelings on this.  However, with all the hype out there that is creating quite a scare for some people (there is even a psychiatric label for a disorder caused by fear over the end of the earth related to global warming)...I wanted to provide the other side to help us perhaps come to a middle ground on this.  Below is a link for a documentary done in the UK that challenges a lot of the information in Al Gore's movie.  In addition to watching this documentary, I have listened to a lot of really intelligent people and scientist discuss this issue.  Here is what I have concluded:

While the globe is diffininitely on a warming trend (yes, we have seen trends into both ice ages and warming ages throughout the earth's history), we as humans are not the driving factor behind this - the sun is.  Now, that being said - I do believe as humans we are doing immense damage to our soil and livestock population - that in turn is turn reaking havoc on our bodies and will much more likely be the cause of our demise (cancer, diabetes, autism...etc. that results in the missuse of our resources).

I hope that makes sense.  I am more than happy to share what I know with any one who has questions!

Note: if you can't get the link, go to Google Videos and search for "global warming" it is the first video that pops up.

HAPPY BABY FOOD
In case any of you still use baby food, they are now carrying this at Whole Foods in the entire bay area!  It is in the frozen section...if you want a coupon for a trial, just let me know!

Have a wonderful April.  I hope to see more of you soon!

Blessings,

Holli
