Hi ladies,
Here are a few things I wanted to share with you:
Weston A. Price Foundation- South Bay Chapter
www.westonaprice.org
As all of you know, I love the cookbook I use called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. Sally's book is a wealth of time tested traditions for the health of everyone...and I am excited to share with you that we have started a south bay chapter of the foundation in order to help disseminate the TRUTH about food and real milk! If your interest has been sparked even just a bit by my nutrition articles...then I urge you to follow this link and join http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPF-SouthBay ....here is a little synopsis of what it is all about
|
THE WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION (WAPF) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated nonindustrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price's research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats. The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective. THE SAN JOSE AND SOUTH BAY CHAPTER is committed to providing information on sources of organic foods, raw milk products from pasture-fed livestock, pasture-fed eggs and livestock and properly produced whole foods in San Jose and South Bay Area. We are hosting exciting events such as monthly pot lucks, holistic speakers, educational farm tours, lectures, cooking classes, workshops, presentations, discussion groups and more. We invite our members to participate in co-ops, group discount and delivery cluster orders that we are putting together in order to provide an easy access to highest quality foods and supplements at reduced prices that many farmers, businesses and manufacturers are ready to offer us as a group that purchases directly. Our yahoo group and community are also for support, advice and sharing WAPF-related knowledge and experience. |
RAW "REAL MILK CO-OP
I am also excited to share with you that thru this group, we are starting a co-op to obtain raw dairy products from Organic Pastures. The prices will be much less than Whole Foods...and we are looking for people to join in the Mtn. View/Los Altos/Palo Alto and surrounding areas. There is also one forming in Campbell. Email me hdare_cm@... for more information or to join!
Here are some links to find out more about what an awesome wholesome food source raw milk and raw dairy products are. It is not unsafe (people drank it raw for centuries and even used it for medicinal purposes!)...it is more unsafe and unhealthy to drink pastuerized/homogenized milk. Please feel free to ask ANY questions if you are interested...I will help relieve your fears of drinking REAL MILK!

UVAS TRIATHLONG TRAINING
Just another plug for this
! This is going to be an awesome triathlon down in Morgan Hill at the Uvas Reservoir. It is a short distance (also known as a Sprint): 3/4M swim - 16M bike - 5M run
I love this distance because it is completely manageable to train for (about 6-10 hours a week - the amount of exercise the Surgeon General recommends!)...and doable the day of without letting the training overtake your life. It is a great way to lose those few extra LBs that are hanging on after you are done nursing/baby growing...and a great way to connect with other moms in the area. I have trained numerous people for the first traithlon successfully - even a few people who didn't swim beforehand. If you are at all some what interested in at least learning more...email me or come to my callout meeting at the Sports Basement. Here are some important dates and info:
* Either Sat, Jan 27th or Feb 3rd: Next Sports Basement Callout/Shopping Event. See what all the buzz is about...surely you know someone that has done one and has told you how awesome they are!
* Week of Feb 5th - 3 weeks of pretraining workouts
* Week of Feb 26th - 12 weeks of training begin...workouts to be on Wed evenings and Saturday mornings
* Sun, May 20th - UVAS South Bay Triathlon --- "You can do it!"
November/December schedule for Stroller Class
Again, I will try to email out the night before if there looks like rain on Fridays. If not, all classes are at Cuesta Park from 11-11:35 with playtime afterwards:
*Nov 17th - class
* Nov 24th - no class
* Dec 1st - no class

Christmas is coming!
If any of you are looking for a good way to step out of the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season and step into the Christmas spirit...here is a great way to do it! My church, Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, is showcasing "The Journey" the weekend of Dec 14th-17th. The show is free, as is childcare (only at some of the times)...but you have to stop by the church to pick up tickets (so they can monitor seating). Here is more info: http://www.alcf.net/pages/page.asp?page_id=3762
Also, the annual Bethlehem A.D. is back...this is an awesome set up in Redwood City of what Bethlehem might have looked like back in the day...it is fun to go and walk around if it is not raining! http://www.bethlehemad.com/
I hope you all find this information helpful!
Blessings to all,
Holli
