Our site is geared more to the icecats booster club
and info on the club.
There are fan boards that have postings...such as
icecats.org and then on to the fan site chat area.
We have a trip to the Savvis center as the cats' are
playing 1 game in their NHL affiliates building.

Sometimes the second year can be the toughest one of all of young players in
the American Hockey League.
Current Worcester IceCats Marc Brown and Mark Rycroft both suffered from the
sophomore jinx in their second seasons with Worcester. In contract, Justin
Papineau blossomed. The learning curve isn't always a smooth one.
This year's IceCats have four second-year players on the roster. They are
Blake Evans, Greg Davis, Igor Valeev and Jeff Panzer. All of have seen
regular duty throughout the season. In fact, all four are among the team
leaders in games played, with Panzer having skated in every game.
Panzer, who set a team rookie record with 26 goals last season, has only 14
with 20 games left in the year. After a long mid-season drought, Panzer
began to find the net more, and create more chances. In his last 16 games,
he has 63 shots on goal. Panzer has been a tough, durable player and among
the club leaders in ice time.
"He has to learn to finish like he is capable of finishing," coach Don
Granato said of Panzer. "We are demanding more of him this year than his
rookie, when he was behind a lot of guys. When he goes into a game now,
there is a lot going on for him. He might be on a 5 on 3 one minute, then
killing a 3 on 5 the next."
Davis, who was signed out of McGill University, was a very intriguing rookie
last year, getting 12 goals in limited ice time. Davis has a great shot, one
of the best on the team, but has not been able to use it often enough. He
has eight goals this season, five coming in the first 17 games and just
three in the next 36.
"He has to learn how to get himself into better scoring position," said
Granato.
Evans had a fabulous start to this season, scoring 10 goals in the first 29
games. He has just two, though, in the last 29. Even so, he is showing the
most improvement of any of the second-year guys.Evans was only 4-5-9 in 28
games last season. His role has also been greatly expanded in 2002-03.
Valeev has battled with veteran Terry Virtue for the team lead in PIM.
Valeev was 3-6-9 in 29 games last year, his season shortened by concussion
problems. He has six goals this year, but has not scored on in the last 27
games. Valeev's impact is as a physical presence much more than an offensive
one and he is a fearless fighter. He has to learn to convert his scoring
chances better, also.
Rookie Greg Day, a Blues contract player who started the year in Peoria of
the ECHL, made his first AHL goal a memorable one. He got Worcester's first
overtime goal of the season to beat Springfield, 2-1. … The IceCats signed
Kevin Colley out of Atlantic City of the ECHL. Colley beat 'em, then joined
'em. He took on both Brown and Rycroft last season when he was with
Providence and had a one-punch victory over Brown. … IceCats players,
especially the younger ones, were keeping a close eye on trade rumors in the
NHL, wondering if they might be involved if the parent Blues make a move. …
After the Springfield victory, Worcester went up and shut out Manchester,
3-0, behind Curtis Sanford's. It was the IceCats' first two-game winning
streak since Dec. 27-28. … Before his most recent callup, Sanford had moved
into the Top Ten in AHL goaltending. He was ninth. And his numbers to this
point in the season are second-best in IceCats history, behind only Dwayne
Roloson, who was a first-team All Star in 2000-01.
Hi Jennifer. There are only two people who, as far as I can tell,
frequent this club. I don't have the capabilities to get you any
pictures of Ernie. Maybe someone else can. I suggest you ask the
people on the fan forum at www.icecats.com.
Hi everyone,
My name is Jennifer and I am friends with Ernie Hartlieb. I live in
Biloxi, MS and I was wondering if anyone could take some pictures of
him while he is with you? If anyone can help me out, please let me
know. Thanks
Jennifer
The Canadian All Stars beat the Planet USA All Stars 10-7. IceCats
Justin Papineau had a goal and Sergei Varlomov had an assist.
Papineau also won the Fastest Skater at the skills competition on
Sunday.
There is something wrong with Sanford's leg. He hurt it Wednesday
morning. I haven't heard anything specific about it yet. The
newspaper said he said it felt stiff. He was getting it checked out
yesterday. I'm hoping if Sanford isn't well enough to play tonight
in Bridgeport Cody will get the start because it will definitely be
an improvment over Osaer.
What happened to Sanford? We need Cody back here in Trenton. We had our
Emergency Backup Goalie in goal last night. He won, but we still need Cody for
our road trip this weekend.
You are right, we did get three goals which is new. But I hate to
point out that one was on 6 vs 3. I didn't know that three shots on
goal three goals fact though. Man, that just sucks! What happened
to Sanford?

This is getting ugly. The Cats haven't won since January 15. I think
I'll wear a paper bag over my head when I go the games. Does anyone
want me to bring them one?
The Pirates had three shots on goal in the third period and they
scored three goals. If Sanford isn't better on Friday I vote for
Cody to start. They did score three goals which hasn't happened in a
while. Maybe they're starting to come out of it. Does anyone have
any opinions?
Maybe it will motivate the team to play better. I think if there is
no hat trick than a lot of new people will be going to the game on
Wednesday since most of the people getting free tickets will be
season ticket holders. So they will give their free tickets to their
friends. Hopefully it does get some new people to go to the games.
The best thing the Cats can do is play well and win that game on
Wednesday and maybe they'll be able to get some new fans. (Clearly
I've thought about this a lot.) That is assuming there is no hat
trick.
Does this mean you're going on Saturday? ;-)
I think it is a great idea. It is a way for people to get in on
saturday and chances are we won't get a hat trick and it will get
them back for the next game too. Unfortunatly it is a wednesday game
that they are handing them out for and I have to work! grrr
This Saturday the Cats will be having a guarenteed hat trick night.
And if one of the 'Cats doesn't score three goals the fans will get
a voucher for a free ticket to next Wednesday's game against
Portland. Since they can't seem to score three goals as a team
recently I don't know how they're gonna get one play to do it. But
it just might happen.

Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to let everyone know that Curtis Sanford's St. Pat's
jersey from 2000-2001 season is up for grabs on ebay! If you know
anyone that might be interested spread the word!
The All Star game will be broadcast on NESN this year. They are
having the X Games on ESPN2 and that's why they're not broadcasting
it. I know I was the only one who was worried, but I was afraid that
I would have to hichhike to Portland and sneek in the back door to
see the game. And this year they are having the skills competition
on TV which I find way more entertaining then the game itself.
They had the same Ref for the past three games too. He must have
been sick of the IceCats. They're not even calling all the penalties
that they were at the beginning of the season. And the Pirates still
end up with seven power plays. And the 'Cats had four. Of course I
didn't see the game so maybe the 'Cats deserved every one. I would
like a game where both teams have about the same amount of power
plays, just once.
