St. Louis, MO, July 31, 2002 - Senior Vice President and General
Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the club has signed forwards
Cory Stillman, Daniel Tkaczuk and Marc Brown, defenseman Dale Clarke
and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky. As per club policy, terms of the deals
were not disclosed.
Stillman, 28, finished sixth on the club in scoring with 46 points,
finishing third on the team with 23 goals. The 5-11, 192-pound left
wing tallied his third career hat trick on January 5 vs. Dallas,
which also marked the second four-point effort of his career.
Stillman tied for third on the team with four game-winning goals and
finished seventh on the club with 14 power play points. Stillman has
appeared in 485 career NHL games, recording 287 points (135 goals,
152 assists). The Peterborough, Ontario native was originally
Calgary's first round selection, sixth overall, in the 1992 Entry
Draft.
Tkaczuk, 23, spent his first full season with the Worcester IceCats
of the American Hockey League. The 6-1, 197-pound center appeared in
75 contests with the IceCats, registering 37 points (10 goals, 27
assists). Tkaczuk was acquired from Calgary on June 23, 2001 and has
appeared in 19 NHL games with the Flames, collecting 11 points. He
was a member of the Calder Cup Champion Saint John Flames during the
1999-00 season. Tkaczuk was originally Calgary's first selection, 6th
overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft.
Brown, 23, recorded career highs in all offensive categories with
Worcester, registering 55 points (30 goals, 25 assists). His 30 goals
ranked third on the team and he set a club record by scoring 14 power
play goals. The 6-1, 196-pound left wing has spent the last three
seasons with the IceCats, posting 98 points (52 goals, 46 assists) in
180 career AHL contests. The White Rock, British Columbia native was
signed by St. Louis as a free agent on September 24, 1999.
Clarke, 24, has spent the last two seasons with the Worcester
IceCats, skating in a career high 72 games. He made his NHL debut
with the Blues on February 11, 2001 at Colorado and skated in three
contests with St. Louis prior to being reassigned to Worcester. The 6-
1, 198-pound defensemen played four season at St. Lawrence
University, skating in 142 collegiate contests. The Belleville,
Ontario native was signed by St. Louis as a free agent on May 15,
2000.
Rudkowsky, 24, split the season between Worcester and the Peoria
Rivermen. The 6-1, 200-pound goaltender posted a 6-10-2 record, along
with a 2.71 goals against average, appearing in 21 games with
Worcester last season. He recorded four shutouts with Worcester and
one with Peoria. Rudkowsky has spent the last three seasons with
Worcester, posting a 28-25-11 career record. The Willingdon, Alberta
native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on March 25, 1999.
