Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau announced today
that the club has re-signed defenseman Christian Laflamme. As per
club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Laflamme, 26, appeared in eight games over four separate stints with
the Blues this season, collecting one assist and four penalty
minutes. He spent the majority of the season with the Worcester
IceCats, notching 19 points (two goals, 17 assists) while skating in
62 games. Laflamme ranked 11th on the IceCats with 52 penalty minutes.
The 6-1, 202-pound defenseman posted NHL career-highs in goals (two),
assists (11), points (13) and penalty minutes (70) during the 1998-99
season with Chicago. He skated in four postseason contests with
Edmonton during the 1999 playoffs. Laflamme spent the entire 2000-01
season with the Montreal Canadiens, before signing as a free agent
with St. Louis on Aug. 21, 2001.
The St. Charles, Quebec, native has appeared in 261 career NHL games,
recording 37 points (two goals, 35 assists), along with 217 penalty
minutes during his six-year NHL career. Laflamme was originally
drafted in the second round, 45th overall, by Chicago in the 1985
Entry Draft.

Khavanov, 30, recorded NHL career-highs last season in points (24),
assists (11), penalty minutes (55), and games played (81). He posted
a plus-or-even rating in 58 of the 81 contests, and finished the
season with a plus 10 rating overall. Khavanov appeared in four post-
season games during the 2002 playoffs, averaging 16:17 of ice time.
The 6-1, 197-pound defenseman has spent the past two seasons with St.
Louis. Khavanov has recorded 47 points (10 goals, 37 assists) and 107
penalty minutes in 155 games played with the Blues. He has skated in
a total of 19 playoff contests, recording three goals and two assists
for five points and 16 penalty minutes.
The Moscow native made his NHL debut with the Blues on Oct. 6, 2000
at San Jose, recording an assist. Khavanov recorded his first NHL
goal on Oct. 13, 2000 vs. Minnesota. He was originally St. Louis'
eighth choice, 232nd overall, in the 1999 Entry Draft.
