St. Louis, MO, July 16, 2002 - Senior Vice President and General
Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the club has signed forwards
Eric Nickulas, Steve Dubinsky and defenseman Steve Bancroft. As per
club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Nickulas, 27, appeared in 54 contests, finishing seventh in scoring
with 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) with the Worcester IceCats of
the American Hockey League. The 5-11, 200-pound forward ranked second
on the team with a plus 19 rating and his 25 assists tied for fifth
on the club.
Bancroft, 31, played a majority of the season with the Cleveland
Barons of the AHL, collecting 44 points (six goals, 38 assists),
ranking sixth on the team and first among defenseman. The Toronto
native made his NHL debut during the 1992-93 season with the Chicago
Blackhawks. The 6-1, 215 pound defenseman has skated in 822 minor
league contests, collecting 539 points (123 goals, 416 assists),
along with 1,451 penalty minutes. He was a member of the Calder Cup
winning Providence Bruins during the 1998-99 season. Bancroft was
Toronto's third selection, 21st overall, in the 1989 Entry Draft.
Dubinsky, 32, skated in 26 NHL contests, recording five goals and two
assists last season. He also skated in 52 games with Milwaukee of the
American Hockey League, finishing fifth on the team in scoring with
36 points. The 6-0, 190-pound forward has skated in 347 career NHL
matches, notching 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists). The Montreal
native was Chicago's ninth selection, 226th overall, in the 1990
Entry Draft.
