ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Blues re-signed defenseman Jeff Finley
and signed Finnish defenseman Tom Kovisto on Wednesday.
Finley, who played in a career-high 78 games with the Blues last
season, ranked second on the team with 125 blocked shots. The 35-year-
old defenseman has had five goals and 24 assists since being traded
to the Blues from the New York Rangers in February 1999.
Koivisto, 29, spent his past three seasons with Jokerit Helsinki of
the Finnish Elite League. He was honored as the league's defenseman
of the year the past two seasons. In 43 games last season, he had
eight goals and 14 assists.
Koivisto was the Blues' eighth-round pick in last month's draft.
Contract terms were not disclosed.
