diane-
all i have to say is that every girl should go for anything they dream to do.
i have been wrestling for four years now for my high school's boys team. i
decided i wanted to wrestle during my freshman year and i went for it no
matter what i thought people would say, just as all the rest of us women have
to do in this sport. I found that no one on the team minded just as long as
i proved to them i was there for the same reason they were, and that i was
not there to joke around. i was serious and dedicated from the beginning and
showed everyone how i felt about the sport, and you'll never guess what all
this did for me this year as a senior.....i was appointed by my coaches and
fellow teammates as one of the two captains of the boy's wrestling team. i
went to junior women's nationals last march and ended up placing tenth in the
nation at 106lbs. I plan to go back this coming march and win th!
e whole
thing. Women's wrestling is growing temendously and more women need to take
advantage of the opportunities early on, so they can become one of the best
in the sport, whether it is in men's or women's. so girls, all i can say is,
go for your dreams! don't let anyone hold you back from wrestling, just
because it is a "man's sport," because as far as i am concerned it is just as
much a man's sport as it is a woman's sport these days.
good luck with your article.
