This is the title of my book, and I encourage you to read it. My book outlines a
great plan to achieve success both on and off the mats. I discuss why we

man who truly understands what a long-term commitment to excellence entails.


PERSONAL NOTE

Speaking of long term commitment and success, my grandmother is celebrating her
90th birthday Sunday. I am taking my wife and kids to Chicago for her party. I
am spoiled to have four living grandparents, and they have all had a significant
influence on my life. I am still a young man, but I guess I have longetivity in
my genes so count on me promoting wrestling for the next 50 plus years. I
encourage you to join me in the promotion of our great sport!

WRESTLING ON TV - CSTV, FOX, and ESPN

This is what we need to promote our sport nationally and take it to the next
level. What would you rather watch cars race around a circle, a guy whack a golf
ball, or the NCAA Wrestling Finals? Of course, we want to see wrestling! You
need to let the networks know what you want to see. When they televise
wrestling, you have to tune in and/or set your VCR. If they get good ratings,
they will show more wrestling. It is not rocket science.

CSTV - College Sports Television is the new player in town. I urge you to call
your cable company now and ask them to carry CSTV. Also go to www.cstv.com and
you can automatically send an email to your cable operator telling them that
you'd like College Sports Television to your cable package. The more interest
we can generate, the quicker CSTV will roll out across the country.

My Penn State teammate and friend, Chris Bevilacqua, is one of the co-founders
of CSTV and he promises us much more college wrestling coverage than we are
currently receiving.

Monday, March 17 at 8PM EST CSTV will be doing an NCAA Preview along with

*Three of our long-time Gold Medal Campers - Matt Valenti, Doug McGraw, Matt
Feast - all wrestle varsity for the University of Pennsylvania and have a great
chance to earn All-American Honors. They are underclassmen, so look for great
things from them during the years to come.

WEST VIRGINIA

You do not have to be from a traditional wrestling powerhouse state like
Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Iowa to excel in wrestling. Slay is from TX, Rulon from
WY, and Cael is from UT. I am from West Virginia. Anyone can excel in our
special sport if you make a commitment to excellence.

When I left college coaching to focus my efforts on working with kids, I
returned to West Virginia and coached young wrestlers including beginners Mitch
Smith, Anthony Easter, and Matt Easter. Last weekend I returned to West Virginia
to watch the WV State Championships. All 3 boys won State Championships. It was
awesome. Matt Easter became a 4x State Champion. Anthony and Mitch are only
sophomores, but they are already national class wrestlers with Cadet National
Titles under their belts. I feel like a proud uncle. To see a PHOTO of these

I am conducting a week of summer camp at the Charleston Civic Center July 13-17.
It is an awesome camp in an awesome facility! Dedicated wrestlers from
throughout the southeast will be making the trip up INTERSTATE 77. The camp is
less than a mile from I-77.

EASTERN NATIONALS - book hotel rooms now!

We are hosting the MAWA Eastern Nationals at Penn State this year. If you hope
to qualify and want to stay at our summer camp host hotel, the Ramada Inn, we
recommend you books your rooms NOW. The Ramada Inn is offering $79 rooms if you
ask for the Eastern National Wrestling Rate. HOWEVER, this special offer expires
March 11 when they release their room block. Room rates will go back up to over
$100 once the block is released. Most the hotels in State College are going to
be filled that weekend, so we encourage you to make plans ASAP no matter where
you plan to stay. The longer you wait, the hirer the rates go.

The Ramada Inn is a very nice hotel with a restaurant, exercise room, game room,
indoor pool, and whirlpool. If you make it to Nationals, you might as well do it
up right and reserve your rooms now at $79 rate. The Ramada Inn phone # is

TITLE IX

JOHN IRVING wrote a very honest, insightful article in the NY Times, and the
Title IX Commission determined that Title IX interpretation needs to be
modified. These were big plusses for our sport.

HOWEVER, I was shocked to learn that after our federal government has invested
significant time and money into a commission to determine what adjustments can
be made to make Title IX more fair, the Secretary of Education is now stating
that he is only considering "unanimous" proposals.

USA Wrestling has asked me to share this recent Title IX development with you. I
encourage you to take 10 minutes of your day to write a letter to Secretary Page
and President Bush. All the info you need is below.

Urgent Title IX action advisory!!
CONTACT EDUCATION SECRETARY PAIGE AND ATTACK HIS TITLE IX POSITION

In a statement made through a spokesman on Feb. 26, Secretary of Education
Rod Paige has indicated that he will only consider the proposals forwarded
by the federal Title IX Commission that were passed unanimously.

This position would wipe out all of the work by the Commission on
Opportunity in Athletics to reform Title IX. THIS POSITION WOULD ALLOW FOR
THE CONTINUED ELIMINATION OF OLYMPIC SPORTS SUCH AS WRESTLING, SWIMMING,
GYMNASTICS, TRACK, BASEBALL AND OTHERS.

This position would allow a few dissenting voices, led by quota advocates
Julie Foudy and Donna DeVarona, to throw out all of the ideas passed by the
Commission on Opportunity in Athletics that they did not agree with.

* Paige has abandoned the Olympic sports community by insisting that
only unanimous recommendations by the Commission on Opportunity in Athletics
be considered.
* This position will maintain the status quo, and will allow for the
continued discrimination. It will continue the loss of programs and
opportunities for Olympic sports such of swimming, wrestling, track and
field, gymnastics, baseball, and many more.
* Nowhere in the American system is *unanimous* consent required. It
is not required to pass a law through Congress. It is not required for
Supreme Court decisions. The United States is based upon a majority rules
principle. A requirement of unanimous consent is un-American.
* This will wipe out the work of the federal Title IX Commission. It
means the efforts of the entire Commission was a waste of their time, and
the Commission process was a waste of taxpayer money.
* It allows only one dissenting voice to overrule the decision of the
majority of the Commission.
* Two members of the Commission, Julie Foudy and Donna De Varona, are
biased and are leaders of a special interest group. They had their minds
made up before the hearings began. Their goal is stop any and all changes to
Title IX enforcement. By only reviewing unanimous proposals, you give Foudy
and De Varona veto power over the entire 15-member panel.
* You have abandoned the campaign promises made by President Bush. You
have buckled to the pressure of a small but well-financed radical group
seeking to keep the status quo.
