I see a lot of questions such as "I am new to
shooting, what kind of gun should I get?"<br><br>I have
been an instructor for a long time. For many years I
have advocated a .22 rifle or pistol. Accurate,
relatively inexpensive and lower in noise and recoil than
the centerfires.<br><br>For the last few years my
eyes have been opened to the benefits of airguns.
Virtually no recoil, or noise when compared to even a .22
rim fire. Plus the huge advantage of being able to
practice in your own home. What every new shooter needs is
a good instructor so that they learn the basics
without developing bad habits, and LOTS of practice.
Nothing beats and airgun for this. Until you have learned
grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger
control, and follow thru, you will not become a good
shooter.<br><br>For less than $100 you can get a decent air pistol,
thousands or pellets and a good pellet trap. Then every
shot you take will save you $ when compared to any
other gun you can get. <br><br>Learn marksmanship with
an airgun and then the rest will become very easy.
Learn to shoot one shot at a time long before you start
to shoot em up in action type shooting. You will
soon discover that Bill Jordan was right in stating
that until you have mastered deliberate fire, action
shooting practice is pre-mature.
