Schools & Guns

Glad to see someone still writes over
there.
We've been lucky down here with no problems re guns and
schools. Mind you that hasn't stopped a local soapy thats
aimed right at the teenagers recently showing a student
taking a gun to school to sort out his problems. Their
answer when l phoned a complaint "I suppose your a gun
owner, Its people like you that are the problem."
":Studies show that violence on TV doesn't cause violence
in real life" They appeared to be stuck for words
when l said then can you explain why 20 years ago when
every High school in Australia had a armoury on it for
the kids to store their .303 military rifles in and
they use to always carry them in public when going to
or from school, camp etc. (These kids were part of
the Army cadet training corp.) yet we didn't have all
these shootings. Isn't it true that all thats happened
is the media have highlighted the shootings to
increase ratings. My ear's still ringing from them
slamming down the phone.
It seems to be a common
problem this power companies failing. Victoria has just
had a heap of problems with power blackouts etc. and
it all came back to privately run companies. Don't
know that it would cause riots but we seem to be only
a few years behind America in what goes on socially
so perhaps we might also have to stock up on the
ammo.
Just re read your profile Ava, Looks like we've got a
lot in common, If l get stateside we'll have to meet
for a drink and chat; Mind you can't say l like
NASCAR much, round and round a round circuit don't seem
like much of a challenge to me. I personally like our
own brand of V* supercar. Most of the time its run on
circuits like for formula one but several times a year
they run on public roads either in our major towns or
at a place in NSW called Bathurst. We've had quite a
few americans come here over the years and try it out
but none have mastered it yet. Locally l'm about to
become a scrutineer for a road rally race called Targa
Tasmania. Its now one of the worlds biggest rallies, with
teams from Porche, Mercedes, Audi etc. It has about 300
competitors and takes about a fortnight to run. And the
beauty of it is we have cars nearly 100 years old right
through to the latest releases. Just read yesterday that
Chrysler have entered a Viper in it this year. Anyway, time
to go. All the best everyone. regards Dave
