Yes there was a lot of untruths told re our "gun
bans" not only in the US l can assure you.
A couple
of points you make though that need to be
clarified.
1/ The only guns banned originally were full
automatic firearms, selective fire firearms, semi automatic
rifles and shotguns and pump action shotguns. (I say
"originally" because now some states again allow people to own
machine guns, assualt rifles etc. but with severe
restrictions on when they can be used.)
2/ Those States
that allowed CCW for self defence were forced by the
Feds to remove those permits. (Some States even went
so far to make it an offence to use a firearm at all
for self defence!)
3/ The only people to lose
their entire gun collections were those that either
wanted to give them up or otherwise didn't hunt or
belong to a club. One of my old Sgts still has over 200
rifles and 80 odd handguns. He no longer hunts but as a
member of the Federal Police Pistol Club and the SSAA he
had no problems keeping all his. I'm a member of a
few clubs and hunt so l kept all mine. In some ways
the gun laws did a bit of good in that they got rid
of guns from people that didn't have a use for them
and gave them a few dollars for them.
If anyone
wants some specific details on what we lost and other
such things they can email me at
PContender@...
Regards Dave.
