Ava in the Territory

Sorry Ava, l misled you. As a visitor you can get
a licence to hunt etc. in every State in Australia
BUT you cannot hunt with a handgun EXCEPT in the
Northern Territory. JD Jones has led some hunting trips
from the USA to the territory specifically for
handgunners. If you came to Tassie l can take you hunting or
to a pistol club and provide the handguns. In Tassie
l'm known as "that bastard Pickford" as for near on
10 years now l've been handgun hunting, along with
about 500 others, but unlike them l tell the
authorities what l do and challenge them to prosecute me.
(The government reckon l'm breaking the law by handgun
hunting) I've even given them copies of my articles l
write for JD Jones newspaper "The Sixgunner" so they
can use as evidence. But l think l'm winning though as
they have now asked me to set up a set of guidelines
for handgun hunting and to established a simulated
field shoot so they can see what we want to do. It may
seem a long way about doing something but unlike the
US we dont have a big history in handguns therefore
most people view them with a mixture of awe and
horror. Even rifle shooters dont believe handguns can be
used to shoot anything bigger than a rabbit!. Last
year l posted pictures of the deer l shot at some of
the gun clubs and shops and l still get people
telling me a handgun cant do it. Some even reckon a
handgun cant hit a man size target beyond about 50 yards.
Talk about ignorance. Anyhow as l said, Come on down
and l'll get you a shot. Regards Dave. PS I hope the
same applies when l get the dollars together for a
trip to the US. I'm going to try and get to the Annual
Handgun Hunting Championships at the YO in Texas next
year then visit friends in Colorado, Utah and
Montanna.
