Unfortunately since our new gunlaws our Prime
Minister banned the issue of licences for owning guns for
self defense so apart from security guards and govt.
officers no one officially carries. The reality is though
that a huge proportion of the public (And l mean law
abiding ones not crooks) do have guns for self defense.
Since 1996 (The year of our new laws) guns like Ruger
.22 semi autos have gone from about $US250 to $US1500
on the black market as ordinary mums and dads
decided to buy a gun for self defense.<br>At present a
lot of the smaller political parties are advocating a
change in the rules to allow for home defense and in
certain cases CCW and they are getting a lot of support.
Who knows, in the next few years we might just change
the laws to something more practical. For my part in
my campaign my main gun push is to get handgun
hunting made legal Australia wide and to allow overseas
visitors the right to handgun hunt also. (At present this
can only legally be done in the Northern Territory.)
As a side line, as l've said before; If anyone is
coming this way and wants a shot either at a club or in
the field drop me a line at PContender@....
Until later. Regards Dave.
